Friends Special Events Volunteers enhance Friends of the Library efforts to raise funding support for the Library by serving as committee members, coordinators, or helpers at one-time or periodic special events, fundraisers, and large-scale book sales. Friends Special Events Volunteers will work with other volunteers on a variety of projects and tasks including performing specific jobs on the days leading up to, or on the day of, an event. Tasks may also include attending planning meetings and helping with set-up and take-down before and after the event.

Teen Partners can volunteer at the Library, both in-person and virtually, for an opportunity to be an active member of the community, gain work experience, earn community service hours, or just to help out at the Library and develop friendships. Teen Partners can be asked to assist in shelving books, shelf reading, tutoring, decorating the Library, and providing general assistance to Youth Services Librarians. Tasks might also include preparation and distribution of program materials and children’s crafts, as well as staffing tables, distributing literature, and assisting with set-ups and take-down at Library events and programs. Virtual Teen Partners can gain community service credits remotely by submitting digital book reviews, performing social media tasks to help promote the Library, and performing other digital challenges when offered.

Farmers Market Volunteers enhance Friends of the Library fundraising efforts by making the selling of books and other items at the weekly Thursday Farmers Market possible. Farmers Market Volunteers will assist with set-up in the morning and take-down in the afternoon, by performing heavy lifting, pushing carts of books in and out of the building, and other tasks as assigned.

Program Assistants will enhance and assist staff in providing educational, cultural, and recreational opportunities for adult, youth and Literacy community members, by aiding with a variety of projects and tasks related to programming for specific interests and groups. Program Assistant Volunteers may also assist with office and other basic tasks, management of Library materials, or child monitoring.
