Do you have a beloved pet that is trained and certified for pet therapy or visitations? Or would you be willing to take a pet that is trained and certified to provide pet visitations to our patients? Do you have compassion and good conversational skills? If so, you'll really like serving as a HOSPICE PET LOVERS VOLUNTEER! This activity is great fun, and it seems to be that almost everyone wants to "pet the puppy" wherever you go! Petting an animal induces uplifting endorphins in one's mind and body, generates a sense of well-being and calmness, and brightens a patient's day by adding sunshine to his/her heart! Below are just some of the fun activities you can enjoy with your assigned patients -- -- Provide pet visit fun to our patients in facilities. -- Provide pet visit fun to our home-based patients and their family members. -- Report patient observations and reactions regarding changes in patient status to the Volunteer Coordinator. -- Document your visits on a Volunteer Visit Note. -- Attend in-services and annual memorial services. -- Be recognized at our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner! -- Practice infection control and universal precautions to ensure the safety of the patient. -- Live the PLUS* Standards in the care of patients, tasks, and interactions with others. If so, you'll really like serving as a HOSPICE OFFICE VOLUNTEER! Office hours you spend are based upon your availability! Below are just some of the fun activities you can enjoy to be of support to our office and our patients -- --Prepare mailings and leaflets. --Write fun letters and send cards to patients. --Make copies, stuff envelopes, prepare packets, and send faxes. --Set up and attend booths at community outreach events and college volunteer fairs. --Assist with stocking our supply room. --Help with data entry and other clerical duties. --Document your time on an Office Volunteer Note. --Assist with Veteran Pinning Ceremonies for our patients. --Attend in-services and annual memorial services. --Be recognized at our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner! --Live the PLUS* Standards in the care of patients, tasks, and interactions with others. Are you an "expressive" type of person who enjoys talking to folks? Do you have compassion and good conversational skills? Do you enjoy activities that are meaningful and fulfilling? If so, you'll truly enjoy serving as a HOSPICE PATIENT COMPANION VOLUNTEER! This position provides a wonderful relationship-building experience, and we need volunteers from all around the Oklahoma City Metro Area! Below are just some of the fun activities you can enjoy with your assigned patient -- --Make scheduled visits to the patient/family offering support, encouragement, and help. --Sit and visit with the patient for companionship, providing respite for family members. --Make crafts with the patient and/or read to them, or watch TV /movies with them. --Report patient observations and reactions regarding changes in patient status to the Volunteer Coordinator, who will in turn contact the appropriate RN Case Manager. --Document your visits on a Volunteer Visit Note. --Attend in-services and annual memorial services. --Be recognized at our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner! --Practice infection control and universal precautions to ensure the safety of the patient. --Live the PLUS* Standards in the care of patients, tasks, and interactions with others. Are you a musical person at heart who enjoys performing and sharing songs with others? Would you enjoy teaching a "rhythm class" to adults? Do you have compassion and good conversational skills? Do you enjoy activities that are meaningful and fulfilling? If so, you'll really like serving as a HOSPICE MUSIC VOLUNTEER! Below are just some of the fun activities you can enjoy with your assigned patients -- --Conduct activities depending on your talents, i.e., singing, playing an instrument or both. --One-on-one musical activities for home-based patients. --Playing various types of music, using an app, a CD player or a radio. --Oversee a "rhythm band" activity, with homemade instruments or instrumental items on hand, such as finger cymbals, drumsticks, drums, shakers, etc. --Report patient observations and reactions regarding changes in patient status to the Volunteer Coordinator. --Document your visits on a Volunteer Visit Note. --Attend in-services and annual memorial services. --Be recognized at our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner! --Practice infection control and universal precautions to ensure the safety of the patient. --Use the PLUS* Standards in the care of patients, tasks, and interactions with others.
