Do you have compassion and good conversational skills? If so, you'll really like serving as a HOSPICE PET LOVERS VOLUNTEER! This activity is great fun, and it seems to be that almost everyone wants to "pet the puppy" wherever you go! Petting an animal induces uplifting endorphins in one's mind and body, generates a sense of well-being and calmness, and brightens a patient's day by adding sunshine to his/her heart! Below are just some of the fun activities you can enjoy with your assigned patients --
-- Provide pet visit fun to our patients in facilities.
-- Provide pet visit fun to our home-based patients and their family members.
-- Report patient observations and reactions regarding changes in patient status to the Volunteer Coordinator.
-- Document your visits on a Volunteer Visit Note.
-- Attend in-services and annual memorial services.
-- Be recognized at our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner!
-- Practice infection control and universal precautions to ensure the safety of the patient.
-- Live the PLUS* Standards in the care of patients, tasks, and interactions with others.
