Position Details Youth Coach: We have coaching opportunities in: Winter - select basketball; Spring/Summer -baseball (coed), track; Fall -soccer, girls volleyball, and flag football. Position Details The City of Auburn believes that volunteers enhance the City's ability to maintain and improve the quality of life in the community. Auburn counts on its volunteers and upon their dedication to help provide those services that best meet the diverse needs of the community. Volunteers choose to make a difference in the community and affect many parts of the City. By taking the time to participate in our programs, volunteers influence the future of Auburn. In assisting staff with both daily tasks and new programs, volunteers enhance the levels of quality services the City of Auburn provides. Primary Duties Senior Center We have a variety of volunteer opportunities. The following are on-going positions in-person at the Senior Center: Meals on Wheels Volunteer: There are four Meals and Wheel volunteer positions: Bag preparers, Packers, Delivery, and Ordering. Some positions require being on your feet and driving to deliver the meals. Volunteers who assist with ordering must feel comfortable using the phone and computer. Volunteer commitment is generally twice a month for 2-3 hour shifts. Kitchen Volunteer: Volunteers assist with preparing food (approximately 70-120 meals a day), serving food, dish washing, set-up, and clean-up. All positions require a food handler’s permit. All positions require being on your feet and lifting/bending. Volunteer commitment can be 1-5 days a week for shifts ranging from 1-4 hours. Office Volunteer: This position requires answering senior center phones, using a computer, providing customer service to participants. The Auburn MTB program offers a variety of classes and programs around bike skills and bike safety. Auburn MTB is seeking volunteers to serve as ride leaders, volunteer coaches and mentors in programs for youth ranging in age from 2-18 years old. Programs consist of learn-to-ride programs for all ages, mountain bike skills workshops for youth ages 5-18, community bike skills and safety events and community outreach. Additional details and duties: Bike Maintenance Assistance- inflating tires, sizing helmets, managing gear, bike repairs, etc. Ride Leader- lead teens on mountain bike trails, assist with basic skills instruction, assist with assessing participant skill levels. *Mountain Bike Experience is required in this role. Learn-to-Ride coach/instructor- assist the program leader with facilitation of learn-to-ride curriculum, encourage and celebrate youth growth and success. Mt. Bike Skills Coach/instructor- assist with small group skill building, mountain biking skills is important, encourage youth, engage with all youth participants. Special Events- assist with set up and tear down of community outreach events around bike skills and bike safety, assist with helmet fittings, answer questions from the public, lead stations/activities as required. Primary Duties Primary duties: Biking skills are appreciated Ability to be a positive role model/mentor Encourage participation Lead small groups of youth in skill building activities Bike Maintenance skills are appreciated A strong desire to work with you and empower them to be strong, safe bicycle enthusiasts. **Mountain biking skills are not required for all positions. Volunteer training is provided. The Les Gove Rock Wall is located in Les Gove Park. It is a man-made climbing wall encompassing 8 routes. Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation is seeking volunteers to belay on the Rock Wall. Experience is appreciated but training is available. All volunteers, regardless of experience must complete a training program or demonstrate competence with a belay test prior to volunteering on the rock wall per the coordinator’s discretion. Training and belay tests will be available on an ongoing basis. Volunteers will serve on an on-call basis for public, open climbing sessions to help share the sport of rock climbing with the Auburn Community. The Les Gove Rock Wall’s season runs May-September, in the case of amenable weather, the season may start early or run late.
