Position Details
The City of Auburn believes that volunteers enhance the City's ability to maintain and improve the quality of life in the community. Auburn counts on its volunteers and upon their dedication to help provide those services that best meet the diverse needs of the community. Volunteers choose to make a difference in the community and affect many parts of the City. By taking the time to participate in our programs, volunteers influence the future of Auburn. In assisting staff with both daily tasks and new programs, volunteers enhance the levels of quality services the City of Auburn provides.
Primary Duties Senior CenterWe have a variety of volunteer opportunities. The following are on-going positions in-person at the Senior Center:
- Meals on Wheels Volunteer: There are four Meals and Wheel volunteer positions: Bag preparers, Packers, Delivery, and Ordering. Some positions require being on your feet and driving to deliver the meals. Volunteers who assist with ordering must feel comfortable using the phone and computer. Volunteer commitment is generally twice a month for 2-3 hour shifts.
- Kitchen Volunteer: Volunteers assist with preparing food (approximately 70-120 meals a day), serving food, dish washing, set-up, and clean-up. All positions require a food handler’s permit. All positions require being on your feet and lifting/bending. Volunteer commitment can be 1-5 days a week for shifts ranging from 1-4 hours.
- Office Volunteer: This position requires answering senior center phones, using a computer, providing customer service to participants. Volunteer commitment is generally once a week for a 4-5 hour shift.
