Join our team to prepare a home cooked meal in our wonderful, well stocked Church kitchen. All ingredients are provided by Soup Angels. Chefs also needed to plan and execute the meals. Chefs, cooks, kitchen help - all your culinary talents are needed to feed our community. Help is needed on Mondays and Wednesdays. In the morning, kitchen help is needed. In the afternoon, serving help is needed.

Volunteers help with various tasks. Some bring food items to other volunteers who assist guests at plexiglass-partitioned stations. Volunteers may also keep track of the number of guests entering and monitor the social distancing. The teams usually consist of 15 members and 2 captains. Because we prepare and deliver over 200 hot take-out meals each serving time and because we have an extensive pantry of donated perishable and non-perishable items, our serving times are busy and involve numerous and varied tasks. All volunteers an guests must wear masks and social distancing is in effect. At the end of the evening all surfaces are wiped down and floors are mopped. A professional cleaning service comes in weekly to do a thorough cleaning and disinfecting. We will work with your availability. Our organization has operated for 17 years, serving a hot meal to those in need on Mondays and Wednesdays. Chefs are needed to supervise the meal preparation. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A PROFESSIONAL CHEF. All ingredients are provided as well as kitchen help. The time of start for prepping the meal is determined by the chef. This does not need to be a weekly committment. Your availability determines how often you can help us. It is always your choice. At this time masking is up to the individual volunteer member but we do provide gloves for food handling. We also limit the number of people in the kitchen during food prep and serving.

Every week on Thursday or Friday we generate a list of groceries that are needed for the following week's meals. A shopper (or 2) is needed to pick up the requested items at Restaurant Depot. They need to be delivered to our facility in Nyack in time for a volunteer chef to use them first thing Monday morning. Although most items are purchased in bulk, care is taken to ensure that they are not heavy to lift or carry.

Mission Statement
Soup Angels provides free, nutritious, homemade meals to anyone who is hungry, no questions asked. Among our guests are elderly persons seeking a meal and companionship, the working poor and their families, and those who are homeless. An all-volunteer, non-denominational group of service-minded individuals, Soup Angels operates under the auspices of First Reformed Church and depends on the support of our community.
