Climate Action Content Co-Lead (Volunteer) Note: The following is an opportunity for flexible, part-time, volunteer work to address climate change. We are looking for an action-oriented person who is excited to address climate change to co-lead our action content team, focusing especially on improving the process for yourself and technical volunteers in researching and calculating the carbon emissions behind each action - and improving how they feed into the impact score for actions. This is an opportunity to be part of an organization where you can have a direct impact, grow your experience, and have the flexibility to fit the role into your life. About the role As a Climate Action Co-Lead, research in science-based literature any carbon-emissions calculations for actions as they are added into the app, and if necessary, further develop the standards to help apply carbon emissions calculations for topics to an individual level. Collaborate with the other Action Content Co-Lead (Main Content Science Editor) to help determine the priorities behind adding actions into the app, encourage the all-volunteer team in general progress and in any efforts on new action development areas, and set any related standards for actions. As inspired, write and edit new climate/environmental actions to appear in the Earth Hero app. See the mobile app’s already written actions. Act as an editor for other team members to help them develop even more interesting, trusted content. Coordinate with other creators to ensure a top-quality end product that encourages positive real-world action. Identify and help bring to life smarter ways for the team to work together. Experiences useful in this role 10+ years of relevant experience in online literature research and fact-based content creation or a related field, with 3+ years in technical research. 10+ years of relevant experience in fact-based writing - and a willingness to use the Oxford comma. :-) An understanding of how to distinguish solid sources from opinion. Scientific technical research experience in carbon emissions or climate change is a bonus. Competent working across multiple digital project-management platforms. Comfortable interpreting scientific studies, technical data, and journals. Ability to take initiative, learn new things, and apply them. Recruit and onboard designers, ensuring they align with EH's mission and fit a volunteer-driven process and workflow. Experience useful in this role 5+ years of experience crafting UI for mobile apps, web apps, or websites. Well-versed in design principles, systems, and user-centered methods. Self-motivated, proactive, and quick to learn and apply new skills. Comfortable at managing multiple tasks and balancing priorities. Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving. Skilled at inspiring and guiding others, offering mentorship, direction, and support. Comfortable using Slack and video calls to communicate. Fluent in Figma. Offer organization, feedback and assistance to translators to enhance quality and efficiency. Conduct check-ins to address any challenges. Grow the Team: Support in recruiting and onboarding new translators as required for new languages and to support established Earth Hero languages. Task Assignment: Allocate translation tasks based on team members' language skills and availability. Translation Quality Check: Work with the language teams to esure content for accuracy and consistency to improve the Earth Hero experience. Establish and uphold translation standards, guidelines, and processes. Improve Earth Hero Localization: Work with the translators to improve the Earth Hero experience for key countries. Collaboration: Partner with other departments, such as development, content and marketing, to prioritize translation requirements. Experiences useful in this role Team leadership and organization.
