UX/UI Design Team Co-Lead (Volunteer, Remote)

Note: The following is an opportunity for flexible, part-time, volunteer work to address climate change. Please DO NOT APPLY if you are only looking for paid employment. A 6-month commitment is preferred. This is a remote-from-home position.

About the role

• Design engaging, accessible UI for mobile and web apps while also creating UX concepts from scratch, ensure design consistency that aligns with our brand and design principles.

• Help grow and facilitate design team strategy, task delegation, and overall team management.

• Collaborate with the user research team to refine designs based on their insights.

• Collaborate effectively across teams, sharing your design concepts and offering constructive feedback.

• Recruit and onboard designers, ensuring they align with EH's mission and fit a volunteer-driven process and workflow.
  
  

Experience useful in this role

• 5+ years of experience crafting UI for mobile apps, web apps, or websites.

• Well-versed in design principles, systems, and user-centered methods.

• Self-motivated, proactive, and quick to learn and apply new skills.

• Comfortable at managing multiple tasks and balancing priorities.

• Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving.

• Skilled at inspiring and guiding others, offering mentorship, direction, and support.

• Comfortable using Slack and video calls to communicate.

• Fluent in Figma.

Expectations

You will work remotely and on your own schedule. Roles work best with a minimum commitment of 6 months for 3 - 5 hours a week (or more if you like!). Because our all-volunteer team is spread throughout the world, we rely mostly on a combination of Slack and video calls to communicate.

If you possess a high level of self-motivation, work well independently, have strong collaboration skills, enjoy the opportunity to partner with like-minded individuals, and can commit quality time per week to help achieve team goals, we would love to hear from you.
