Purpose: To advise, govern, oversee policy and direction, and assist with the leadership and general promotion of New Life Serenity Center (NLSC) so as to support the organization’s mission and needs. Major Responsibilities: Strategic development and advisory support for the organization Creation and management of policies and procedures Financial oversight, including budget approval and management Guidance on program planning and performance evaluation Personnel assessment and strategic planning for staff development Review and analysis of organizational and program reports Advocacy and promotion of the organization Fundraising efforts and community outreach *Members of the board share these responsibilities while acting in the interest of NLSC. Each member is expected to make recommendations based on his or her experience and vantage point in the community. Length of term: Two years, renewable up to a maximum of three consecutive terms (six years), pending approval of the board Meetings and time commitment: The board of directors meets on the first Tuesday of every month Board members are asked to attend no more than two special events or meetings per year to expand and strengthen our local community Expectations of board members: Attend and participate in meetings on a regular basis, and special events as able. Be alert to community concerns that can be addressed by NLSCs mission, objectives, and programs. Help communicate and promote NLSC’s mission and programs to the community. Become familiar with NLSC’s finances, budget, and financial/resource needs. Understand the policies and procedures of NLSC. Financially support NLSC in a manner commensurate with one’s ability.

Grant Researcher and Writer Reports to: Executive Director Duration of Contract: Six months New Life Serenity Center is a non-profit organization committed to empowering women to thrive in their sober journey. We provide mentorship, tools, and resources designed to support their growth and success. We are currently looking for a Volunteer Grant Researcher and Writer to join our team. In this role, you will report to the Executive Director and collaborate with the Leadership team to help achieve our organizational objectives and manage daily operations effectively. We look forward to the possibility of working together to make a meaningful impact. Responsibilities: Research and Identify Grants: Identify grants that align with the mission and objectives of New Life Serenity Center and compile them into a comprehensive Excel sheet. Familiarize yourself with past grant applications to gain insight into the organizational brand voice and preferences. Research grant writing strategies specifically tailored for nonprofit organizations, including best practices, tips, tricks, do's and don'ts, etc. Proposal Preparation: Work with the Executive Director and Fundraising team to prepare grant proposals by conceptualizing ideas, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining necessary approvals. Determine proposal concepts by assessing opportunities and needs, studying requests for proposals (RFPs), and participating in strategy meetings. Proposal Coordination: Meet proposal deadlines by prioritizing tasks and establishing target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and submission. Coordinate with contributors and provide proposal status updates during review meetings. Proposal Development: Gather proposal information from various sources, coordinate submissions, and identify and communicate associated risks. Develop proposals by organizing information on project's nature, objectives, implementation methods, timetable, budget, staffing, standards of performance, and evaluation. Write, revise, and edit proposal drafts, including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials, ensuring adherence to proposal writing standards. Maintain high-quality proposals by using templates, ensuring readability, consistency, tone, and accuracy, and updating proposal support databases. Approval and Feedback: Obtain approvals by reviewing proposals with key stakeholders and the Grant Editor. Seek feedback and continuously improve proposal-writing processes, approaches, coordination, and content. Goals: Identify and document 6 new grants that align with the mission of New Life Serenity Center. Apply for a minimum of 1 grant per month during the contract period. Requirements: Excellent grammar, writing, and organizational skills. Passion for sustainability, climate change, and promoting a plastic-free future. Preferred: Pursuing a degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field, with experience in nonprofit grant writing. In this role, you will work closely with our Executive Director and Director of Operations to create lasting change. Your Impactful Role: As the Volunteer Coordinator, you will be the first point of contact for prospective members who are hungry for their own success. Your primary responsibilities will include: Develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer recruitment strategy to attract individuals passionate about our cause. Coordinate volunteer onboarding, training, and scheduling to ensure a positive and fulfilling volunteer experience. Communicate regularly with volunteers to provide updates, gather feedback, and address any concerns or issues. Maintain accurate volunteer records, including contact information, hours worked, and roles performed. Collaborate with program managers to assess volunteer needs and ensure that volunteers are effectively supporting the organization's mission. Recognize and appreciate volunteers for their contributions through various recognition programs and events. Conduct regular evaluations of the volunteer program to identify areas for improvement and implement changes accordingly. Stay up-to-date on relevant laws and regulations pertaining to volunteering and ensure compliance with all requirements.
