ORGANIZATION: NEW LIFE SERENITY CENTER INC

Purpose: To advise, govern, oversee policy and direction, and assist with the leadership and general promotion of New Life Serenity Center (NLSC) so as to support the organization’s mission and needs.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Strategic development and advisory support for the organization
  • Creation and management of policies and procedures
  • Financial oversight, including budget approval and management
  • Guidance on program planning and performance evaluation
  • Personnel assessment and strategic planning for staff development
  • Review and analysis of organizational and program reports
  • Advocacy and promotion of the organization
  • Fundraising efforts and community outreach

*Members of the board share these responsibilities while acting in the interest of NLSC. Each member is expected to make recommendations based on his or her experience and vantage point in the community.

Length of term: Two years, renewable up to a maximum of three consecutive terms (six years), pending approval of the board

Meetings and time commitment:

  • The board of directors meets on the first Tuesday of every month
  • Board members are asked to attend no more than two special events or meetings per year to expand and strengthen our local community

Expectations of board members:

  • Attend and participate in meetings on a regular basis, and special events as able.
  • Be alert to community concerns that can be addressed by NLSCs mission, objectives, and programs.
  • Help communicate and promote NLSC’s mission and programs to the community.
  • Become familiar with NLSC’s finances, budget, and financial/resource needs.
  • Understand the policies and procedures of NLSC.
  • Financially support NLSC in a manner commensurate with one’s ability.
