Use your writing edge to volunteer! (For High School Student Volunteers) BEA website publishes blogs written by high school student volunteers as good writing examples for younger children. Writing volunteers basically submit their writing works, poetry, fiction (non-poetry) or non-fiction, to the BEA Peer Review Working Group. Once accepted for publication, the volunteer will have their effort recognized through their volunteer hour (according to the length of the text) and the publicity as the writing role model. Your submissions must be unpublished and authentic, owned by you before you submit it to BEA. At this stage, the submissions should be written in English. How to start volunteering? To start the process, please (1) fill in the Volunteer Application Form published on www.brookedge.org/volunteers; AND (2) provide at least one sample of your writing in English to the email or shared through Google Drive with brookedgeacademy@gmail.com. Young photographers, What to create If you are passionate about sharing your works and techniques, welcome to submit your photographic works to BEA for its blog cover pictures. Volunteering hours will be recognized for your contribution, if your works is chosen. Two hours per published work. Your works must be unpublished and authentic, owned by you before the submission. The themes of the photography works will be announced on rolling basis. English Reading Comprehension (For High School Student Volunteers only) Four English tutor is needed to assist students to learn English as a second language. One Grade 2 student; One Grade 5 student; One Grade 6 student; One Grade 9 student. English Level: ESL as specified above. Expectation: Assist the student in go through reading worksheets that are provided with. Starting Date: Any soonest day that the tutor can start Session duration: 45 - 60 mins Sessions in a week: 1 or 2 sessions per week Preferred time slots: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm ET on Weekdays or most time slots on Weekends. Minimum Weeks to commit: Four. Instruction languages: English Teaching materials: Worksheets provided. The class time will be scheduled after considering the availabilities of the student and the tutor. Artists are called! (For high school student volunteers only) What to create The art project is to provide cover images created by artists for illustrations to the literature texts that will be published on our website. If you are new to our Publications section, you could check our website, where each posts goes with a cover image that would potentially be your artwork. The artwork of illustration could be digital or hand-drawn on traditional media. Volunteer hours will be the actual artwork creation time, reported by the task assignee, and the discussions involved. Field working time: two to three weeks from the day to receive the assignment. Youth Writing Editors Welcomed! (For high-school student volunteers only) BEA website publishes posts written by high school student volunteers as good writing examples for younger children. Writing Editors in the Peer Review Working Group will review the submissions from various writers, decide whether to accept one writing piece or turn it down, and if okay further polish it to the satisfaction to be published. At this stage, Writing Editors work on the submissions written in English. Eligibility 1.You are a current high-school student, ideally in junior or senior years, or with adequate expirience in editing. 2. You have a true passion in promoting English literary art. How to start volunteering? To start the process, please (1) fill in the Volunteer Application Form published on our website; and (2) send over at least two samples of your previous editing or writing works to BrookEdgeAcademy@gmail.com.
