Georgia Hospice Care volunteers play an integral role as a part of the team. Volunteers provide support and companionship for our patients, allow caregivers to have a break, provide administrative support to our staff and more. Those with special skills such as haircutting, massage therapy, landscaping, spiritual support, veteran to veteran, music therapy, telephone assurance, and emotional support will bring comfort to family members and add joy to the patient’s life. Some even bring certified therapy pets for visits.

To make this happen, we are looking for friendly, compassionate, kind individuals to greet those who are coming to visit their loved one. As a greeter, you will: utilize a screening tool to ensure it is safe for the guest to visit escort visitors to their loved ones' room answer questions about the facility (location of restrooms, snacks, etc.) be a welcoming face to all who enter, live and work at the facility If you want to help us ensure that our guests and residents have the most optimal situation during their stay, we encourage you to apply! They spend countless hours making meals, attending to medical needs, aiding in daily activities and improving the quality of life for other people. But what about their quality of life? Studies show that those who are full-time caregivers for others often find themselves struggling with physical, mental and emotional stresses that they do not take care of. What if you could help? Spending as little as three hours a week, you can help people get the well-deserved break they need! They can take this time to go for a walk, prepare a meal without interruption, read or run errands. Some caregivers may also take the time to have a date-night with their spouse, go to a social outing or attend church. Your role as a volunteer would be to visit the family home and provide a presence for their loved one. Sometimes this means interacting with the person being cared for and sometimes it means sitting quietly and watching TV or reading until the caregiver returns. Mainly, you are there to ensure a safe and comforting environment, giving the caregiver confidence to step away and take a break.
