We are a 4-star hospice in the South Sound with patients in King, Kitsap, Pierce and Thurston counties. We have two different track of volunteering. The first is patient centered and the second is helping in the office. Both are important opportunities! In our patient program our volunteers are out in the community visiting with our patients. They may listen to stories, play cards, read out loud or just sit quietly. In our office program volunteers will help put together mailings, help with special projects, file, and dozens of other tasks. Our office is in beautiful Gig Harbor with good parking, a fun staff, and good nibbles in the kitchen. The training for both programs is the same and volunteers may move from one program to the other. We provide you with 12 hours of combined online and self paced training. Additionally, we have a dynamic training throughout the year. Our requirements are simple: be kind and compassionate, be willing to give back to your community, have a smile on your face, and want to make a difference! Why not reach out? We love to talk hospice and enjoy getting to know the members of our community! Please call Debra at 360-350-4875

Christmas time is upon us! As magical as it can feel for some people, for many patients and family members this time of year brings feelings of sadness. They will remember the good holidays of the past while knowing that most likely it will be the last one with their loved one. The magical part of hospice is the way that it involves community members as volunteers. There are many different things that a volunteer may do with a patient. Sometimes it is sitting bedside and chatting, sometimes it is helping with light housekeeping and other times it is watching tv or listening to music. The opportunities are only limited by imagination! We require that you are a kind and compassionate person who wants to be a part of this amazing work. We will provide you with all the necessary training and support!

Only you can make a impact on a patients life. We are looking for those special people who have the time and dedication to walk beside our patients on their final journey. Patient needs are many, you can listen to music or read to the patient, or perhaps watching TV together would be appropriate. Sometimes just a listening ear is all that is needed. Shifts are scheduled between you and the patient. Generally we ask for a 2-3 hour commitment for each visit. We provide all training and ongoing support. You are never with a patient without someone available on the phone should you have questions and grief support is always there for you. We strive for excellence in our care for patients and are a great group of people to work with. Why not join us for this fulfilling opportunity?
