The Red Cross needs the help of volunteers to support blood collections across the country. Blood Donor Ambassador volunteers are critically important to creating and ensuring an overall positive donation experience at Red Cross blood drives (mobile drives and fixed sites). Blood Donor Ambassadors greet donors, answer questions, and help in our canteen/snack area. This position is ongoing - volunteers can use our scheduling app to identify mobile or fixed-site blood drives with volunteer needs and sign up as best fits their schedule. Time Commitment: 6 hours per month (1-2 shifts). Qualifications Must be at least 16 years old Masks will be required, regardless of vaccination status. Ability to display the utmost professionalism and communication skills. Extremely comfortable working with people from diverse communities and backgrounds.

The Red Cross is actively recruiting Mental Health volunteers to help us meet the local needs in our community. Red Cross Disaster Mental Health volunteer teams are active throughout the United States, meeting the emotional and psychosocial needs of disaster survivors and fellow Red Cross disaster workers. These teams respond to disasters of all sizes, from single family fires to large-scale events. Roles and Responsibilities: Respond to the immediate emotional distress and psychosocial needs of disaster survivors and Red Cross disaster responders Supplement local mental health resources during times of disasters Support the community in building resilience Help facilitate long-term recovery for clients impacted by disaster Help clients connect to other resources in the community as needed Qualifications: Master’s level or higher mental health professional with a current and unencumbered license in one of the following disciplines: Psychiatry, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, School Counseling Psychiatric Nurses that have a state license as a registered nurse and a minimum of 2 years’ verified experience in a psychiatric setting. The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides comfort to victims of disasters; supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; distributes international humanitarian aid; and supports veterans, military members and their families. But we can't do that work without support from our dedicated Facilities volunteers. We need your skills, your time, and your compassion. Join us as a Red Cross Facilities Volunteer at our Winston-Salem Blood Collection Center. Duties may include: Monthly building inspections of fire extinguishers, AED, and emergency lighting Minor repair issues (e.g., changing light bulbs). Supporting preventive maintenance programs and coordinating repair and maintenance activities to ensure facilities are well-maintained and operational. Are you a licensed medical professional? Do you want to volunteer your expertise in your community? The Red Cross needs you! The Red Cross has an ongoing need for individuals with active and unencumbered medical licenses to serve as Disaster Health Service Associates. In this role, Health Service volunteers support our Disaster Response volunteers, responding to year-round local disasters such as home fires, floods, tornados, etc. The Health Service Associates meet the disaster related health needs of clients such as replacing durable health equipment, medication, glasses, dentures, etc. Disaster Health Services Time Commitment: Red Cross Health Service volunteers work virtually to meet and assist clients. Disaster Health Services volunteers rotate being on-call for one week (8 am to 5 pm) every 6 Volunteers typically assist 5-10 hours/month. Disaster Health Services Volunteer Qualifications: Active and unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Advanced Practice Nurse, Medical Doctor, Doctor of Osteopathy, Physician Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic, Retired RN/LPN/LVN if the state in which the license is granted allows for full scope of practice for the volunteer.
