Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and creative Social Media Manager to join our communications team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing social media strategies that engage our audience, build brand awareness, and help raise funds for VWO’s life-saving missions. This role will focus on showcasing our impact through storytelling, empowering communities, and driving action. Key Responsibilities: * Develop, implement, and manage VWO’s social media strategy across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.) to align with the organization’s goals and voice. * Create and curate engaging content that reflects VWO’s mission, values, and ongoing initiatives (photos, videos, graphics, blogs, etc.). * Schedule and publish content, ensuring consistent posting to build and engage our audience. * Monitor, listen, and respond to followers in a conversational tone, fostering an engaged community. * Collaborate with the communications team to plan campaigns for key initiatives, including fundraising events, missions, awareness days, and disaster response efforts. * Track performance metrics, provide insights, and adjust strategies to optimize engagement and growth. * Stay up-to-date with social media trends and platform updates, adapting strategies as needed. * Support live coverage of VWO events and missions, as appropriate, including working with on-the-ground teams to source content. * Coordinate with the brand and PR team to ensure messaging is aligned with broader communications and fundraising goals. Qualifications: * Proven experience in managing social media accounts for nonprofits or mission-driven organizations (experience in international development or veteran organizations is a plus). * Strong storytelling skills with the ability to write compelling captions and craft engaging posts. * Experience creating visual content (basic graphic design and video editing skills are a plus). * Knowledge of social media analytics tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social) and experience using them to drive strategy adjustments. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and deadlines. * Passion for VWO’s mission of empowering communities through clean water access and healthcare. * Familiarity with military culture or veteran causes is an advantage. Preferred Skills: * Basic understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics. * Experience in social media advertising (Facebook Ads, Google Ad Grants). * Familiarity with crisis communications and disaster response efforts on social media. You will ensure the site’s performance, security, and content delivery align with our organizational goals to engage donors, volunteers, and the communities we serve. Qualifications: * Proven experience with WordPress administration, including updating themes, plugins, and performing core updates. * Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP for basic site customization and troubleshooting. * Understanding of SEO principles and experience using analytics tools like Google Analytics.
