The Red Cross San Bernardino County Chapter is in need of Disaster Duty Officers now! Are you RETIRED and a former Law Enforcement or a Fighter Fighter? Disaster duty officers are a lifeline to temporary assistance during a disaster. Volunteer Duty Officers are responsible for dispatching Red Cross volunteers to meet with families impacted by home fires and other disasters so they can provide temporary relief such as a safe place to stay, food, and clothing. Volunteers should be comfortable using online systems and must have access to a cell phone and computer. The DAT Duty Officer’s position is unique in that it does not require direct face-to-face interaction with clients. As such, DAT Duty Officers must be proficient in multiple forms of communication, to include: * Email; * Text message; * Telephone; * Other technology and communications platforms. They must also be proficient in (or willing to learn) Red Cross systems. Responsibilities: Leadership: 1. May determine if Red Cross action is required; may decide if Red Cross will respond via DAT. 2. Uses event triggers such as size, scope, and type of the event to direct the DAT response. 3. Works with on-scene DAT leadership to support the response and provide technical guidance. 4. Support and train new Duty Officers. Functional: 1. Dispatch DAT members and monitor the response to ensure appropriate resources are made available. 2. Activate Disaster Health Services, Disaster Mental Health, and Disaster Spiritual Care, Public Affairs when requested. 3. Documents incoming disaster notification and creates & verifies events in RC View, when applicable. 4. Where appropriate, maintains access to and ability to use the Client Assistance System (CAS) to enter case data and load CACs. 5. May be required to monitor activity across multiple DAT responses. 6. Notify Chapter and Regional staff of significant events, and contribute to an Initial Incident Report, when appropriate. 7. Attends regularly scheduled team/DAT meetings as required by Chapter/Region. As such, DAT Duty Officers must be proficient in multiple forms of communication, to include: * Email; * Text message; * Telephone; * Other technology and communications platforms. They must also be proficient in (or willing to learn) Red Cross systems, including * Volunteer Connection; * RC View DAT Dispatch or other event management system; * The Exchange; * EDGE. Qualifications: Demonstrated leadership and communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the American Red Cross. Ability to remotely monitor and track details of DAT responses Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in complex and stressful situations. Proficient with Red Cross systems and online interfaces (training will be provided) Work for long periods on the computer Sit and/or stand for a minimum two hour periods Excel spreadsheet proficient Speak clearly on the phone and in-person Compassionate and call Volunteer remotely Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and submission of vaccine status and supporting documentation in Volunteer Connection if participating in in-person activities #ClimateAcitonCorps Training: Red Cross will provide all necessary training Time Commitment: a minimum of one 12 hour on-call shift per week. 1-year commitment Training: We provide all the training! It's critical that The American Red Cross needs volunteers to transport blood and blood products in a safe and timely manner. Volunteers are critically needed as COVID-19 cases rise. We ask for a valid state driver’s license, 3-years of driving history, a clear motor vehicle report, and the ability to lift up-to 50-lbs. Share with your friends & family! It's CRITICAL! Responsibilities: * Transport blood or blood products from blood distribution in Pomona center to local hospitals. * Pick up and return boxes as needed. * Complete required paperwork and obtain signatures. * Communicate and share feedback between Red Cross personnel and customers. * Drive in a safe and responsible manner. Disaster Mental Health Associates is a HYBRID ( In person/Virtual) Postition Respond to the psychosocial needs of people affected by a disaster, including Red Cross disaster workers, across the continuum of disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. Responsibilities: Willingness to support Red Cross Mission Identifying mental health needs through individual psychological triage and mental health surveillance. Promoting resilience and coping, including enhanced psychological first aid (EPFA), individual psychoeducation, community-level support, and community resilience training. Providing targeted disaster mental health interventions, including secondary assessment and referrals, crisis intervention, casualty support, and advocacy. Time Commitment: Flexible. Volunteers can work locally to respond to the needs of victims affected in local house fires, can participate in local preparations and exercises, and can deploy to help with local or national disasters. a Qualifications: Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and submission of vaccine status and supporting documentation in Volunteer Connection if participating in in-person activities and/or performing work in a Red Cross facility. Must be an either: a current school psychologist, a current school counselor, a current psychiatric nurse, or a licensed mental health professional--hold a current, unencumbered license from, or is registered with, any U.S. state or territory as a social worker, psychologist, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, or psychiatrist (any level license/registration, including non-clinical licenses such as Licensed Masters Social Worker or LMSW). Licensed healthcare professionals are needed! Are you a licensed healthcare professional? If so, we also have a high need for health care workers to provide assistance and healthcare to shelter residents. With predictions for a very active hurricane and wildfire season, disaster victims need your expert care and comfort. Training is free and CE credit is available. For those able to travel outside of their local area, a commitment of at least 10 consecutive days, with shifts of 8 or 12 hours each (we'll cover travel, food, and accommodations) OR stay local. If the need arises, volunteers are asked to commit to multiple local shifts of 4, 8 or 12 hours each. Licensed Required: RN, LPN, LVN, EMT, Paramedic, MD, DO, PA, NP, APRN. It’s the hardest job you will ever love! Purpose: Disaster Health Services (DHS) Supervisor (SV) is a TEMPORARY POSITION assigned to work in person before, during, and/or after a disaster event this hurricane/wildfire season. The purpose of this role is to lead a team of Disaster Health Services responders to provide health services care to shelter clients. This role will act as the liaison from the Disaster Health Services team to the shelter manager. Advocacy for client needs is a primary purpose of this role. Key Responsibilities: Disaster Health Services Supervisor (IDC/DHS/SV). Lead team of licensed healthcare professionals Act as liaison for DHS team with the shelter manager Assist DHS service associates with documentation and data gathering (including C-MIST interview). Communicate access and functional needs of clients to shelter manager Provide hands-on care as necessary, including assistance with activities of daily living, wound care, incontinence care, health assessments, health education, and determination that a higher level of care is needed for the client Observation and health screening for COVID-19 like illness for all shelter clients daily Lead the management of a shelter isolation care area. Complete required virtual self-paced and instructor-led training for the position (29 hours total) Purpose: Disaster Health Services (DHS) Service Associate (SA) is a TEMPORARY POSITION assigned to work in person before, during, and/or after a disaster event this hurricane/wildfire season. Volunteers in this role provide assistance and healthcare to shelter residents as needed. Key Responsibilities: Disaster Health Services Service Associate (IDC/DHS/SA).
