Mission Statement

The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament established the Brown Bag Lunch Program in August 2013, in response to the growing numbers of downtown homeless needing food, nourishment, and kind words.

Description

Everyday our ministry feeds up to 200 homeless men and women from the downtown Sacramento area. Our goal is to prepare and distribute a nutricious brown bag lunch consisting of a protein, a fruit, a healthy carb and a fun carb, and I bottle of water.

We are open and distribute lunches Tuesday - Friday, from 8:00 am - 9:00 am.

I volunteered with the Brown Bag Lunch Ministry for 2+ years, and it was an incredibly rewarding experience. The crew was welcoming and appreciative of the support, and always ensured the safety and well-being of its volunteers. And the best part, they are ALL about feeding the hungry. 100% of donations go to those in need. Compassion and kindness to those who are experiencing very difficult situations in life. God Bless you all for the much appreciated and very important work that you do.
