Brown Bag Lunches

Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Brown Bag Lunch (BBL) Ministry volunteers distribute a brown bag lunch to poor and homeless men and women in the Sacramento downtown community each Tuesday through Friday, 52 weeks per year, rain or shine.

Lunches are distributed from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m., from in front of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament rectory, which is located at 11th & J Streets. Specific information about lunch bag contents will be emailed to you in response to your VolunteerMatch Inquiry.

Mission Statement

The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament established the Brown Bag Lunch Program in August 2013, in response to the growing numbers of downtown homeless needing food, nourishment, and kind words.

Description

Everyday our ministry feeds up to 200 homeless men and women from the downtown Sacramento area. Our goal is to prepare and distribute a nutricious brown bag lunch consisting of a protein, a fruit, a healthy carb and a fun carb, and I bottle of water.

We are open and distribute lunches Tuesday - Friday, from 8:00 am - 9:00 am.
