The VA Representative will be knowledgeable about Soldiers’ Angels programs and policies and will coordinate with their local Chief of the Center for Development and Civic Engagement (CDCE) to provide Soldiers’ Angels program support to veterans in the VA Medical Center, VA clinics, VA vet centers and other VA facilities. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate delivery of Soldiers’ Angels programs with the CDCE committee and appropriate VA staff. Manage Soldiers’ Angels’ programs, volunteer opportunities, and donations to the VA. Build network of volunteers and community support network. Track national campaigns (donations Girl Scout Cookies etc.), to include picture requirement Coordinate with the Community Representative for all national campaign support within their site. Collaborate with VA staff, VA social workers, case managers, outreach coordinators and other key VA personnel. Collaborate with VA vet centers, VA clinics and other VA facility leadership to organize opportunities to serve. Attend weekly meetings with staff manager. Planning special events and coordinating the distribution of goods and services. Responsible for oversight of all community events for Soldiers’ Angels. Manage Soldiers’ Angels programs, volunteer opportunities, and donations. Coordinate delivery of Soldiers’ Angels support to local service members, military units, veterans, and their families, Veteran support are non-VA sponsored events. Responsible for recruitment, training and retention of all community activities and event volunteers. Coordination of the volunteer resources of Soldiers’ Angels and all aspects of their participation in the assigned community events and activities. Build network of volunteers and community support network. Track national campaigns (donations Girl Scout Cookies etc.), to include picture requirements and coordinate with the VA Representative to ensure division of the goods between the VA and the community. Coordinate with the VA Representative and the Site Coordinator for all national campaign support within their site. Attend weekly meetings with staff manager. Must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision, and be willing to work events on occasional evenings and weekends. A Patient Visit Volunteer is a regular volunteer who conducts patient visits at the VA Medical Center delivering care and comfort items to veterans. May help veterans with tasks such as reading their mail or writing a letter for them, and may sit with patients, to keep them company or listen to a story. Visit patients on various units of the VA hospital on a regular basis. Distribute donated items (when available) to patients and/or family members (e.g. blankets, comfort kits, hygiene products). Work through the Center for Development and Civic Engagement (CDCE) office to coordinate visits and distributions. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to VA rules. Abide by and support the philosophy, policy, and guidelines of Soldiers’ Angels. Keep careful records of hours volunteered and items distributed. Meet with key VA leaders, community leaders and other like-minded nonprofit leaders. Promote the site and build relationships within the Denver area by serving a Site Coordinator for Soldiers’ Angels. Work with local donors, including individuals and businesses to facilitate relationships. Develop local partnership opportunities and attend working groups, chamber events, and other key events focused on collaboration and networking in the assigned community. Oversee VA and Community Representatives; the recruitment, training and retention of volunteers and growth of site; as well as, all special events and coordinating the distribution of goods and services. Coordination of the volunteer resources of Soldiers’ Angels and all aspects of their participation in the assigned community and at the VA.
