Time is our most precious gift... Time is limited, yet of eternal value. What makes it so is how you use it and to whom you give it. Share your gift of time with a patient on their end-of-life journey. No special skills needed - just a listening ear and an open heart; it will be some of the most rewarding time you'll ever spend. Elara Caring, a leading home health and hospice agency, is looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide a comforting end-of-life presence to local hospice patients and their families in Essex and Northern Middlesex Counties. Our patients live in homes, assisted living facilities and nursing homes. As hospice patients approach their end-of-life, extra support is needed for both the patient and their family. We are looking for special volunteers to visit patients at the bedside and offer vigil and support. You could hold a hand, play their favorite music, recite poetry, read out loud or provide quiet companionship. Your presence will provide support for the family at bedside and allow them to take a respite break from their long vigils. For patients without available family to sit with them, your presence is invaluable. Hours are flexible - weekdays, evenings, weekends and on an on-call basis. Orientation and training provided; no physical care to patient required. Covid-19 restrictions upheld per CDC Guidelines and facility requirements. For more information, please contact Lisa Hanson, Volunteer Coordinator, at (603)891-6155 or email lhanson@elara.com I look forward to hearing from you! Lisa

Elara Caring is looking for your help! Elara Caring Hospice is looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide two forms of behind-the-scenes (BTS) support for our hospice patients and their families. You will make a difference with either type of volunteer support! *Creating Life Story Boards for our patients with dementia. This is a significant way to honor the life story of our patients through a colorful representation of their lives. The Social Worker provides you with the detailed history collected from the patient and family. We provide you with the foam board, art supplies and use of office printer and space to print images, write notes and design what becomes a living legacy. These boards become a connection point for all staff and visitors for communication with that patient. The Life Story Board becomes an important part of the celebration of life when the patient passes as well as a cheerful, visual reminder to the family of their loved one's life before their illness. *Administrative Office Support consisting of weekly phone calls from the office to family members. For most family members, facing the death of and caring for a loved one can be complicated, isolating and scary even with the hospice team on board. Calling family members to check in weekly, especially before the weekend or holiday, gives them an opportunity to express themselves to a non-professional, share what they might be concerned about and know that there is another member of the hospice team who cares. You don't need to problem-solve or have a counseling background; just a willingness to listen, pass on information to the team member(s) and assure that family member that he/she has been heard. Volunteer phone call forms are in the office and are a part of your training. * Done in a Day - Yard Work we recognize that there are people who want to volunteer The ideal candidates will be organized, dependable, personable, and compassionate. For additional information please contact Lisa Hanson, Volunteer Coordinator, (603)819-6155 or by email lhanson@elara.com I look forward to hearing from you! Lisa
