R ole Description: Las Tramps is searching for Board candidates with a fundraising focus. We’re seeking individuals who will be an integral part of our leadership team, driving the financial sustainability of Las Trampas. Your key responsibility would be building a culture of enthusiasm for fundraising on the Board and holding fellow Board members accountable for their fundraising obligation; for assisting the staff with identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of new funders; and partnering with the Board and staff on the development and implementation fundraising strategies to advance our mission. ABOUT THE JOB: Volunteer Board Member, Corporate and General Law Expertise Las Trampas supports adults with developmental disabilities in Lafayette, CA. We are searching for dedicated Board candidates with legal expertise in Corporate Law to strengthen the Board’s understanding of the legal implications of its decisions and to bring a broader legal perspective to Board deliberations. In particular, the Board is seeking individuals with in-house corporate counsel experience or has previously counseled boards, or worked with non-profits. Role Description: As a Board member w e are seeking a high-level professional currently or previously in the field of mental and physical disabilities . Ideally, someone who understands the California developmental disabilities service system including the Lanterman Act, Individual Program Plan (IPP) process, Individual Service Plans (ISPs), and programs and services for adults with developmental disabilities is critical. This includes: Desired Qualifications: Understanding of Individualized Education Plans to ensure 100% compliance with IEP standards . Individuals who can take a leadership role to advocate for and identify fund supports for people with developmental disabilities and their families. Understanding of program models currently served by Las Trampas including: Adult Development Programs Adult Vocational Programs Independent Living Services Supported Living Services Alternative/Adult Residential Model Understanding of the regulations for adult services including California Code of Regulations, Title 17 Understanding of program licensing requirements for facility-based programs (day programs and adult residential) including California Code of Regulations, Title 22 Understanding of the needs of individuals moderately to profoundly impacted by developmental disabilities including intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, autism, seizure disorder , and other qualifying disabilities Understanding of programmatic features for adult services, particularly in the areas of evidence-based curriculums, teaching techniques and strategies, activities of daily living, speech and language pathology, assistive technology and alternative and augmentative communication, etc. Knowledge about key industry trends to keep our Board informed on progressive developmental disability researchers , and practitioners, and evidence-based practices both locally and nationally so that LTI will be on the cutting edge of forward-thinking program offerings. Experience in the development and operations of adult program services is preferred. Ideally, we need legal counsel to help the Las Trampas Board keep abreast of legal matters that involve disability-related issues and developments in the industry. Competency with California compliance laws as they pertain to complex legal matters, and provide leadership and mentoring to our Executive Director and HR Manager.
