Volunteer Opportunity Position Title: Pastoral Care Associate Ministry/Department: Pastoral Care Ministry Reports To: Eld. Leah Farr, Associate Pastor Time Commitment:
Hours per Week/Month: Approximately 2-4 hours per week
Schedule Requirements: Flexible; availability for home visits, hospital visits, or specific events as needed.
Duration: Ongoing
Pastoral Care Associate serve as an extension of the pastoral team by providing emotional and spiritual support to church members. Volunteers in this role visit members who are sick, homebound, or facing difficult circumstances, offer prayer, and provide practical assistance as needed. They play a vital role in ensuring that every member of the congregation feels cared for and supported.
Key Responsibilities:Visit members of the congregation who are ill, homebound, or in need of encouragement.
Offer prayer and spiritual support to individuals and families facing challenges or crises.
Provide follow-up communication, such as phone calls, cards, or small gifts, to express the church’s care and concern.
Assist with meal deliveries or other practical support as needed.
Maintain confidentiality and respect for the personal situations of those served.
Work with the Associate Pastor and pastoral team to ensure effective care and follow-up.
- A compassionate heart and a willingness to serve others in their times of need.
- Spiritual maturity, with the ability to offer prayer and emotional support.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with grace and confidentiality.
- Church Membership Not Required
- Regular Attendance Preferred
- Minimum Age Requirement: 18 years old
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathy and a caring attitude toward others.
- Basic understanding of pastoral care principles (training provided).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive matters.
Orientation to the church’s pastoral care protocols and procedures.
Ongoing mentorship and guidance from the Associate Pastor or pastoral team.
Estimated training time: 2-3 hours initially, with ongoing support as needed.
Access to materials and resources to assist in pastoral care (e.g., prayer resources, care kits).
Regular check-ins with the Associate Pastor for guidance and feedback.
Primarily off-site (home visits, hospital visits)
On-site at church for coordination meetings or prayer support
