Parents' Day 'In the Zone' at Arthur M. Blank Children's Hospital

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Hailey Bankhead Foundation

About the Hailey Bankhead Foundation:

The Hailey Bankhead Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting children affected by childhood cancer. We work with local hospitals to provide activities and programs that bring joy and relief to children and families during difficult times.

For this volunteer opportunity you will help parents unwind by engaging with them for some relaxing activities so they can "whoosah" for a brief period.

Volunteers will meet at the Arthur M. Blank Children's Hospital in "The Zone." The requirements for volunteering are as follows:

1. You must be at least 21 years old.

2. You cannot be sick (fever, coughing etc.) within 48 hours of your visit.

3. Please no ripped or distressed clothing.

We truly want to be there to support and serve our families, so if you express interest, and are confirmed to volunteer that day, please respond to emails and confirm your attendance.

If for any reason something changes and you cannot volunteer, please let me know as soon as possible so I can connect with another volunteer who will be able to volunteer on the assigned day.

We thank you for your interest in joining us to brighten the day of someone who needs a little sunshine added to their day. If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact me at volunteer@haileybankheadfoundation.org.

Our motto is, "Together WE are fighting against childhood cancer." Our staff, volunteers and team recognize the special needs and attention required from our clients. "We have been in their shoes, so we can add extra love and support that others cannot."- Heather Bankhead, Founder/Director, The Hailey Bankhead Foundation, INC

Description

The Hailey Bankhead Foundation is an organization founded from one mother’s love for her child facing childhood cancer and a need to find a sense of purpose and a desire to ease the pain and to serve other families facing childhood cancers.

Upon preliminary diagnosis, The Hailey Bankhead Foundation, INC. will offer a personalized care package to VIP families as well as provide guidance to the resources available to make dealing with the diagnosis/transition easier. We will continue our reach supporters by providing online resources, information through social media platforms, monthly newsletters and communications. The Hailey Bankhead Foundation INC’s unique intentions are to continue to keep in close contact and continuing follow up with all our families.

We host social and kid centric events including our annual 5K Walk/Run which is just one of the ways we get the community involved in raising awareness.

The Hailey Bankhead Foundation, INC.’s "A Night Under the Stars" event is to raise money for the foundation to help further the cause of childhood cancer awareness. The monies raised will help fund the annual 5K Walk/Run, purchase hats and gifts and have holiday activities for children admitted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) at Scottish Rite. If needed, we will assist the families of children admitted to CHOA by purchasing food, parking vouchers and toiletries.
