ORGANIZATION: VITAS Healthcare of St. Louis
Please visit the new page to apply.
Hospice volunteers visiting nursing home patients lessen the burden on family members who may be too far away to play an active role in their loved one’s life. VITAS Healthcare is looking for a Patient Care Volunteer to visit patients in their own homes residing in the Affton area, 63123. Patient care volunteers offer companionship, play music, games, read to patients and help in other meaningful ways.
Volunteers that visit patients at VITAS Healthcare provide specific, non- medical care through socialization and friendly visits. With hospice training, skill sets are sharpened and new ones emerge. Hospice volunteers are trained in communication skills, family dynamics and how to make a positive difference for patients and their caregivers. In addition, all volunteers receive training in hospice philosophy, health/safety precautions and more. Days and times are flexible according to your availability.
