Role Overview:
As the Volunteer Recruitment and Onboarding Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in attracting and welcoming passionate volunteers to join our mission. This is a great opportunity to make a tangible impact while honing your leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop creative strategies to recruit volunteers who share our vision.
- Design and manage a welcoming onboarding process, including orientation materials and training.
- Build relationships with community organizations, schools, and networks to expand our reach.
- Maintain a volunteer database, track metrics, and provide regular updates to the team.
- Celebrate volunteer achievements and create a sense of community among our volunteers.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, organized, and detail-oriented approach to tasks.
- Passion for sustainability and community development.
- Experience in recruitment, volunteer management, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, or CRM systems (helpful but not mandatory).

Membership Information:
The Center for Sustainable Journeys in Engineering and Innovation is a member-based organization. While volunteering with us for this role does not require you to be a member, becoming a member helps support our mission and provides you with rights within the organization that non-members do not have.
This role is classified as Tier 1 Membership, with annual dues of $120. Becoming a member is entirely optional but offers opportunities to engage more deeply with our community and initiatives while supporting our mission.
Background Check: To ensure the safety and integrity of our programs, a background check will be required for this role. We kindly ask volunteers to cover the associated costs. However, options for fee waivers are available for those in need-please let us know if this applies to you.
Location Disclaimer:
This role requires regular in-person attendance in Phoenix, AZ, with the possibility of hybrid tasks that can be completed remotely. We welcome applicants from the local area or those willing to commute.
