Are you interested in learning more about benefits access volunteerism? As part of the MLK Serv-a-Thon, the Idaho Hunger Relief Task Force will be providing a benefits access volunteerism educational session. You don't need to be an Idahoan to join! Attendees will learn about federal safety net programs such as SNAP and WIC, eligibility and enrollment requirements for these programs, and how to assist their community through benefits access volunteerism. The goal of this education session is to empower attendees to become volunteers in their own communities and help their family, friends, and neighbors access federal safety net programs they may be eligible for in the fight against hunger. We'll also be discussing the Idaho Community Action Network (I-CAN). The goal of the I-CAN program is to empower community members with lived experience and expertise to develop skills to support their community and speak out on their own behalf. I-CAN members will play leadership roles in the effort to promote food security in Idaho by being the face of change. Join us to learn how to directly help your community!

HUNGER FREE AMERICA is a national nonprofit group building a nonpartisan, grassroots membership movement to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food.
Description
HUNGER FREE AMERICA (formerly known as the New York City Coalition Against Hunger) is a national nonprofit group building a nonpartisan, grass-roots membership movement to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food.
Our long-term goal is not just to ameliorate the problem, but also to build the people’s movement necessary to enact the economic and public policies needed to end hunger entirely. Given that hunger drains our economy and tears at our moral and civic fabric, we know that eliminating it will boost the nation both economically and spiritually. Towards that end, we’ve adopted the motto: "Ending hunger lifts us all."
