ABOUT ChromaLearn:

Founded in 2023, ChromaLearn is dedicated to empowering underprivileged youth through quality education, fostering growth through guidance and mentorship, and providing exposure to invaluable knowledge and opportunities-all while ensuring everything remains free and accessible. In our first year, we have laid a strong foundation by assembling a team of passionate professionals alongside high school and college students, creating a unique dynamic for making a meaningful impact. We initiated a free online 1-on-1 tutoring with successful high school student tutors. Although we mainly focus on the students in the United States, we have tutored students in other countries as well. Currently, we are developing a blog feature designed to share meaningful lessons and to serve as a database for valuable opportunities that everyone can access. We aim to expand our services and launch helpful programs to change the lives of our future generations.

Duties & Projects:

The Chief Financial Officer would oversee the current and ongoing projects/tasks -

  • Fundraising Support: Collaborate with Operations/fundraising team to plan and execute cost-effective campaigns, ensure resource optimization, and support efforts to secure funding.

  • Donation Management: Oversee the tracking, recording, and acknowledgment of donations, ensuring compliance with legal and donor requirements. Work with the CEO and Operations/fundraising team to build donor trust and encourage future contributions.

  • Financial Planning: Develop strategies to balance immediate operational needs with long-term growth goals, ensuring financial stability.

  • Financial Reporting: Regularly prepare and share detailed reports on income, expenses, donations, and cash flow for transparency and informed decision-making.

  • Risk Management: Monitor and address potential financial risks, offering solutions to ensure responsible fund allocation and spending.

  • Treasury Oversight: Manage cash flow, budgets, and other financial functions to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and availability of resources.

  • Budget Monitoring: Ensure sufficient funds are allocated to meet program and operational needs while maintaining ChromaLearn's financial health.

Qualifications & Experience Necessary for the Role:

  • Based in the United States

  • Available to respond to emails/messaging/inquiries within 24 hours

  • Knowledge of our internal tools/software helpful or willingness to learn (i.e. PMS Systems, Slack, Canva Pro, Google Workspace, etc.)

  • Flexible schedule and able to work with team members across USA time zones

  • Age of 17 or above

  • Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting and IRS regulations

  • Experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, and managing fundraising/grants financials

  • CPA certification or similar credentials (preferred but not required)

  • Knowledge of compliance requirements (e.g., Form 990 filings)

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is fully run by an unpaid/volunteer staff. Although volunteers are not given a direct monetary stipend for their time commitment, our team members choose to volunteer with us for a variety of reasons that include but are not limited to - gaining experience for their resume, to learn about the inner workings of a nonprofit, they desire to take part in community service, they want to pursue an opportunity to build out current/new skills, the networking aspects of volunteering, or they simply resonate with the mission/cause of our organization as a whole.
