ORGANIZATION: Vitality Hospice and Palliative Care

Image_202006231416

We have Alzheimer's and dementia patients who need attention as they face their final months, weeks and days. As a Hospice Volunteer, you will interact with them, if they can, or read to them or listen to music with them, as hearing is felt to be the last sense to go, or, perhaps, you'll keep them safe by redirecting them, if they try to do what they can no longer do (walk), or you may just sit quietly with them, maybe holding a hand, to let them know that they are not alone, as they journey on.

If you are a patient, caring person, who understands the value of attending to our most vulnerable community members, please consider volunteering in this way. You would volunteer if a weekly, for an hour, maybe two, or more if you wanted, with one, or a couple of patients... Or you could help in a private home, where you would also provide respite-support for a family caregiver, allowing them some time to themselves, so these visits would be 3 to four hours, either weekly or every-other-week.

As a Volunteer, you will only accept the assignments that work for you, in terms of day(s), time(s) and distance(s) to travel.
