Jackrabbit Mountain Campground offers scenic lakeside camping in the beautiful Nantahala National Forest of southwestern North Carolina. Campers can breathe the fresh air of the forest while enjoying numerous recreation activities, including hiking, picnicking, mountain biking, fishing, and water sports at Jackrabbit Recreation Area.
The campground contains 96 non-hookup sites within three separate camping loops; All loops are open May - October. This large facility has spacious well-kept campsites, most of which lie on the water's edge. Families can relax at the swimming beach (May - September), while anglers and boaters can use the boat ramp to access the water. The facility is also equipped with 6 different bath houses with showers, flush toilets, and 2 different picnic shelters. The host site is very spacious with full hookups.
Lake Chatuge has more than 130 miles of shoreline and plenty of water for recreation. Popular water activities include boating, jet skiing, swimming, and fishing. Beach access fee is not included in camping reservation fee and will require on-site payment at fee collection station. Visitors who wish to stay on dry land can explore hiking, biking, and shoreline fishing. Jackrabbit Mountain Recreation Area boasts several hiking trails, and the campground has paved roads for an easy afternoon of bicycling. Mountain bikers can get their wheels dusty on approximately 20 miles of bike-friendly trails.
Campground Host Duties:
- Assist campers by providing them with information, explaining basic forest regulations, assist with reservations, act as the eyes and ears of the Forest Service by monitoring use and reporting violations or emergencies to the proper authorities.
- Clean and service restrooms when needed (outside of the janitorial contracts time period), fire pits, campsites, and general ground maintenance
- Paint

- Work safely while adhering to all USFS safety policies.

QUALIFICATIONS
Hosts are to be neat in appearance and to keep a tidy and welcoming camp site. Hosts should be in good physical condition and be able to work in a variety of weather conditions including rain, high humidity, and varying temperatures.
