Museum Graphics

We are seeking a volunteer to create and edit graphics in our exhibits department. This role involves creating new graphic displays and signage that enhance our exhibits and visitor experience.

Key Requirements:

  • Must have basic skills in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of printing process
  • Experience working on a MAC workstation.
  • Team Player
  • Ability to climb ship’s ladders (steep stairs)

Optional: additional exhibits team tasks with the ability to lift up to 45 lbs.

Commitment:

  • 16-24 hours per month with a flexible schedule.
  • Volunteer hours are available Tuesdays through Thursday between 8 AM and 4 PM.

Portfolio a plus but not required for consideration.

Description

The USS Midway Museum opened to the public in June 2004 and today is one of San Diego’s most popular visitor attractions with world wide audience. The naval aircraft carrier was commissioned in 1945 and served for 47 years supporting U.S. military and humanitarian efforts around the world. Nearly 250,000 sailors and officers served their country aboard the USS Midway before it was decommissioned (retired) in 1992. Museum includes more than 60 audio tour stops including nearly 30 aircraft ranging from the WWII era to today's technology in Naval aviation. Come be a part of this 'city at sea'!
