Wildwood Recreation Site Summer Host

ORGANIZATION: U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management

The Bureau of Land Management, (BLM) Cascades Field Office seeks two experienced, enthusiastic host couples to join our team at Wildwood Recreation Site ! Wildwood is a popular year-round day use recreation site situated along the Wild and Scenic Salmon River adjacent to the Mt. Hood National Forest. At Wildwood, visitors enjoy multiple walking trails, various individual and group picnic areas, reservable shelters and picnic kitchens, sport fields, and a seasonal swimming area.

Host volunteers assist BLM staff to open and close the site each day, manage shelter and picnic kitchen reservations, answer visitor questions, encourage visitor rule adherence, and maintain the site. The selected volunteer(s) must have strong interpersonal and customer service skills, as visitor interactions occur daily. Volunteers are also required to perform maintenance duties, such as landscaping (weed-eating, mowing, leaf blowing) and cleaning (restrooms, litter collection, etc.) Based on these physical duties, volunteers must be able and willing to walk up to several miles per day and lift up to 15 pounds. Site-based training is provided by BLM staff upon entry on duty.


Each volunteer host couple is provided one paved RV site with water, electric and sewer hookups and a propane supply for the duration of their service term.


This position works on site April through September. A full six-month commitment is required.
