Join Our Community Family Advocacy Network as a Volunteer Counselor Board Member
We are seeking dedicated volunteers to join our Community Family Advocacy Network and work closely with fellow members and CITCA staff to help provide guidance and support in developing mental health programs and resources. As part of this initiative, you will play a key role in brainstorming innovative solutions and conducting community-based research to understand the mental health challenges faced by residents in Baltimore City and County. Your insights will directly influence the implementation of services that improve the well-being of those in need.
CITCA was founded to build a national alliance among counselors, connecting professionals across the country to share resources and strengthen the relationship between counselors and the communities they serve. Through this collaborative experience, our mission is to increase access to mental health care, develop programs, and offer resources that improve the quality of life for individuals from impoverished communities.
We are looking for volunteer Counselor Board Members who are highly motivated, passionate about serving others, and committed to creating opportunities that empower disadvantaged populations to overcome barriers related to poverty.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Professional experience in counseling or related health fields
- A passion for serving disadvantaged populations and a desire to help others
- The time, energy, and commitment to contribute to growing a nonprofit organization
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- The capacity to provide strategic guidance, support fundraising efforts, and represent CITCA to external stakeholders
Volunteer Responsibilities:
- Provide expertise and guidance on developing and implementing mental health services
- Collaborate with board members and staff to identify opportunities for expanding our impact
- Participate in board meetings and contribute to the organization’s strategic direction
- Support fundraising and advocacy efforts
- Promote the organization’s mission and values to the community

Requirements:
- Prior board experience (or experience working with a board) is preferred

Counselors in the Community Alliance- CITCA serves disadvantaged individuals throughout the United States from urban & rural communities with mental and behavioral health resources by increasing access to services, resources and support for children, adults and families impacted by poverty and poverty-related issues and bridge the gaps to strengthen community resilience through stewardship, economic opportunities, health and education equity.
Description
CITCA is a national 501c3 on a powerful mission to increase strengthen mental health awareness and community resilience. Our association includes a collaborative alliance among counselors, mental health professionals, and community members nationwide engaging in civic community activities that promote mental health awareness and resiliency. Through such allyship the organization strengthens anti-poverty initiatives that bridge the gaps on access to care and socioeconomic resources including programs, education and employment resources.
Since incorporating the nonprofit has been driving impact in social emotional learning, SEL and increasing access to counseling services for low income families. The organization also offer programs for youth leadership development, advocacy, community resources and programs that contribute to prosocial development and other services to close equity gaps
We are seeking volunteers to serve with us who share similar passions to increase mental health awareness and strengthen communities. Volunteers are the driving force our mission would be incomplete without and we welcome all with a passion too serve.
