Virtual Opportunity
Counselors in the Community Association (CITCA) is seeking passionate and dedicated volunteers to serve on our Community Committees, helping to guide and shape our outreach and impact across the region. Committee members play a key role in steering the direction of CITCA's initiatives by offering advice, support, and helping to build capacity for our mission. We are currently recruiting for three committees: Programming, Community Outreach, and Digital. As a Committee Member, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with community leaders, organizations, and like-minded individuals to strengthen CITCA’s mission, expand our reach, and create meaningful change in the communities we serve. Responsibilities: Programming Committee: Assist in shaping and coordinating community programs and services that align with CITCA’s mission. Provide insight and advice on program development and implementation. Community Outreach Committee: Actively engage with local communities, build relationships, and communicate CITCA’s work in improving healthcare access, mental health resources, and workforce opportunities for underserved individuals. Digital Committee: Support CITCA's digital presence by strategizing, creating, and managing online content to amplify the organization’s reach, engage community members, and promote advocacy and education about mental health and socioeconomic disparities. All committee members will: Provide advice and support on initiatives across all committees to ensure alignment with CITCA's mission. Work collaboratively with fellow committee members to maximize the impact of outreach programs. Participate in fundraising efforts and community events that further CITCA’s mission and raise awareness of mental health crises and economic disparities. Gather feedback from community members and help refine CITCA’s approach based on this valuable input. Qualifications: A passion for CITCA’s mission and a desire to create positive change in underserved communities. Experience in community outreach, public relations, program development, or similar areas is beneficial. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and form lasting partnerships. Knowledge of healthcare challenges and socioeconomic barriers that individuals in underserved communities face. Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting and provide strategic guidance across multiple initiatives. We invite you to join us in making a tangible difference in the communities we serve. Counselors In The Community Association Co., CITCA is recruiting students for our hybrid SEL Mentor opportunity. CITCA is a national 501c3 with an anti-poverty mission to improve the quality of life for disadvantaged communities. Forming a national alliance with counselors throughout the United States across various specialties, the organization aims to strengthen the counselor-community relationship by getting counselors active in low income communities for service including education, programs, and community volunteering and increase opportunities for counselors in training to gain industry experience while making a difference in the lives of others. We believe that together, along with community, we can bridge the gaps in access to care and resource to empower communities and reduce poverty and poverty-related issues nationwide. CITCA offers programs for parents, children, young adults and nuerodivergent individuals. Offering a wide range of services including educational trainings/workshops, mental health referrals, resources, advocacy, and transformation SEL. Mentors will be provided opportunities to learn and perform within other operations of the organization. There is much opportunity for growth. To be employed by CITCA, candidates enter through the Pathway to Hire process. Pathway to Hire includes a 1-year volunteer position hold before candidates are eligible to receive a full employment offer. Selected candidates will sign-on in a volunteer position, dedicating a minimum of 5-20 hours a week to support the mission. Compensation will be provided for all workshops facilitated based on contractual basis. Upon satisfactory performance review, the candidate will be offered a full hire position. All staff are hired through this process. Position description: The SEL Mentor will provide social emotional learning workshops for youth ages 6-15 experiencing social and/or emotional difficulties or disorders. During the workshops, mentors will engage in interactive activities of theory and practical learning concepts for a duration of 80 minutes to 2-hours. Workshop location will vary throughout the Baltimore Metropolitan area. A minimum of 5-20 hours required for this job. Duties: * Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to youth participants and teen mentors * Provide community resources for mentees, families and community members * Complete reports and program documentation using Microsoft Office and other technology systems. * Engage in SEL community outreach * Attend meetings, events, and conferences as needed * Conduct surveys, focus groups, and preparation meetings * Work collaboratively with our team to develop workshop content, activities and materials Qualifications: * Studying in behavioral science including clinical mental health counseling, school counseling, social work, human services, applied behavior analysis, or psychology * Have understanding of mental health and/or behavior health services * Be a current undergraduate (sophomore, junior, senior) or graduate student * Willing to submit background and drug screening * No history of child endangerment or unlawful behavior * Have a valid drivers license or photo ID and reliable transportation to commute to assigned locations * Ability to plan, organize and complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills * Ability to coordinate and organize multiple functions and activities * Work with extremely tight deadlines * Proficiency with technology usage including Microsoft Office is required * Ability to effectively maintain the security of sensitive and confidential information Benefits: * Discounts & accommodations * Gain industry knowledge, skills, experience * Grow local community connections * Exercise soft skills * Company sponsored trainings and certifications * Advance leadership skills * National peer professional network * CITCA exclusive perks & benefits This is an at-will position. Volunteer Opportunity: Youth Wellness Summit 2025 Dates: May 15-16, 2025 Time: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM Location: Potentially held at Morgan State University or Coppin State University CITCA is seeking passionate and dedicated volunteers to support the Youth Wellness Summit, a two-day event focused on fostering mental wellness, social-emotional learning (SEL), and student empowerment. Volunteers will play a critical role in both the planning and execution of the summit, ensuring its success and impact on attendees. We are looking for individuals to assist with pre-event planning and day-of-event support in the following areas: Pre-Event Volunteer Roles Event Planning & Organization Collaborate with the planning team to refine the event agenda. Identify and secure necessary resources and supplies. Provide input on materials and resources to enhance the event experience. Logistics Support Assist with managing inventory, storage, and supplies. Promote the event through outreach efforts to increase attendance. Fundraising & Sponsorship Outreach Help secure funding to support event programming. Reach out to organizations and businesses for sponsorships or in-kind donations. Day-of-Event Volunteer Roles Event Logistics & Operations Assist with event setup, including arranging materials and preparing workshop spaces. Help facilitate workshops, SEL lessons, and breakout groups by providing guest support and ensuring smooth transitions between sessions. Distribute informational pamphlets and direct attendees as needed. Ensure that event activities run efficiently and address any on-site needs. Guest Support Provide assistance and guidance to attendees during sessions and activities. Offer insight and support during workshops and breakout groups to enhance attendee engagement. Event Breakdown Assist with cleanup, teardown, and organizing leftover supplies and materials. Qualifications Enthusiastic and team-oriented with strong communication skills.
