Our Opportunity Center will serve as a comprehensive, holistic resource hub designed to break the cycle of poverty and empower individuals and families to achieve lasting self-sufficiency. The center will be a beacon of hope for those living in poverty, providing essential services on the spot that address not just the symptoms but the root causes of economic instability.

Volunteers will be part of the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), and must be 55 years of age or older. The Opportunity center volunteers will greet and assist clients/participant and help participants to access community resources. They will work as part of a team with the Opportunity Center Supervisor to assist with training and resources for participants.

Mission Statement

Creating opportunities for people and communities to reduce poverty and increase self-sufficiency.

Description

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for individuals age 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers choose when, where and how long they would like to serve at schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while they serve. There is a pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
