Foster Grandparent volunteers are role models, mentors, and friends to children who need extra support to help them to succeed in school. Foster Grandparent Volunteers work one-to-one with students in the classrooms to provide positive academic, social, and emotional support. Volunteers serve in schools, Head Start centers, or after school programs and may choose the days and hours they are able to give. All volunteers receive training, transportation reimbursement, and annual recognition. Interested candidates must be age 55 years and over and enjoy sharing their time and experience with children. An application and a background check are part of the registration process to begin this rewarding volunteer opportunity. Volunteers who meet income guidelines and are able to commit to a minimum of 5 hours each week may also qualify to earn a non-taxable hourly stipend, paid holiday, sick, and vacation hours through the Foster Grandparent Program.

Description
MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for individuals age 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers choose when, where and how long they would like to serve at schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while they serve. There is a pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
