ILCIA is seeking a creative and motivated volunteer to join our team as a Marketing and Communications Volunteer. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in nonprofit or corporate marketing who are passionate about promoting our mission to enhance lifeguard critical incident responses globally. The volunteer will assist in developing marketing materials, managing social media, and crafting communication strategies to engage our audience.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Creation: Draft engaging content for various platforms, including websites, newsletters, and promotional materials that highlight ILCIA's initiatives and successes.
Social Media Management: Manage and grow ILCIA’s social media presence by creating and scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and analyzing performance metrics.
Talking Points Development: Assist in drafting talking points for staff and volunteers to effectively communicate ILCIA's mission and programs during public speaking engagements and interviews.
Media Outreach: Develop media pitches to promote ILCIA’s activities, initiatives, and events, fostering relationships with journalists and media outlets.
Campaign Support: Collaborate with the team to design and implement marketing campaigns that raise awareness and drive engagement for ILCIA's programs.
Event Promotion: Create promotional materials and manage communications for fundraising and awareness events, ensuring maximum visibility and participation.
Brand Consistency: Ensure all communications align with ILCIA's branding and messaging guidelines, maintaining a cohesive voice across all platforms.
Qualifications:
- Experience in marketing and communications, preferably in a nonprofit or corporate environment.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create compelling narratives.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) and best practices for engagement.
- Ability to conduct research and analyze communication trends and metrics.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Previous experience in a volunteer or internship setting is preferred but not required.
Commitment:
This position requires a commitment of 8-10 hours per week for a minimum duration of 6 months. Flexible scheduling is available, but consistent availability is essential for maintaining effective communication efforts.

Mission Statement
The mission of the ILCIRA is to coordinate access to the education, training, consultation, and support needed to assist emergency responders within the aquatics community to better manage the aftermath of a critical incident.
Description
Critical Incident Stress Management Services will be provided by an Aquatic Critical Incident Response Team (AqCIRT). Interventions will be provided by certified Lifeguard Peer Support Volunteers (LPSVs) and Mental Health Providers (MHPs) following the protocols of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF).
ILCIRA has direct responsibility for the overall organization of the AqCIRT, the success of which depends upon a true intra-agency effort. The AqCIRT is intended to be an intra-agency partnership with local aquatics management teams, accreditation bodies and aquatics associations which provides support after Critical Incidents to Lifeguards, Allied Aquatics Professionals and their Aquatic Management Teams.
