Drive for good 2023M

Organization: American Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society provides free rides to treatment for people with cancer. As a trained Road To Recovery volunteer driver, you can change someone’s life in as little as one hour a week by ensuring a ride is available, so care isn’t stopped or delayed.

Keep in mind that most rides are needed during Monday through Friday, primarily between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Drivers should have regular availability at some point during that time frame (you choose your availability).

If you own or have regular access to a safe, reliable vehicle, then you’re already on the road to volunteering. But you’ll also need to

  • be between the ages of 18 and 84
  • possess a valid driver’s license and adequate automobile insurance
  • pass a background check and motor vehicle records check
  • be comfortable using technology and have reliable internet access
  • complete required training

The American Cancer Society takes your safety seriously and has implemented new guidelines to minimize COVID-19 risks to patients and volunteer drivers. All volunteer drivers are strongly encouraged to stay up to date with COVID vaccinations.

What’s often standing between people with cancer and lifesaving treatment is a ride to get there. And we need you now more than ever.
