Position requires phone calls to be made to the ones who have lost a loved one who was on our hospice services and also assistance with planning bereavement ceremonies annually. Our Bereavement program consists of anywhere from 4 calls over 13 months and up to weekly calls over 13 months depending on the bereaved person's requests and bereavement risk assessment. Lists of calls to be made and background information will be given through a HIPPA compliant website login. Volunteer will need to complete 12.5 hours training online with a small portion being in person is preferred. Office is located in Advance NC but I can also come to you within a reasonable distance from office. Volunteer will also need to submit to background check, have current driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance. The best candidate for this position in particular would also have personal experience with loss of loved ones and be able to relate to personal loss. The goal is to get the bereaved to talk and share memories and educate them on grief/coping skills. Also, volunteer will submit notes timely based on conversations and notify volunteer/bereavement coordinator immediately if bereaved speaks in a way that would cause concern for self harm.
