Are you a great communicator with a passion for building lasting relationships? NeighborScapes is looking for a motivated volunteer to serve as our Donor Engagement Coordinator. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of our efforts to cultivate and retain donors who are essential to funding our mission and expanding our impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Donor Relationship Building: Proactively engage with donors through personalized outreach, thank-you notes, and tailored communications to grow long-term relationships. Help create meaningful connections between donors and NeighborScapes’ mission.

  • Donor Retention: Work closely with our team to develop and implement strategies to encourage recurring donations. Assist in planning and executing engagement initiatives such as exclusive donor updates, appreciation events, and loyalty recognition programs.

  • Impact Reporting: Help track and report on the impact of donations, ensuring donors are regularly updated on how their contributions are making a difference in the community. Collaborate with our team to create and share compelling success stories.

  • Donor Segmentation: Assist in segmenting our donor base to ensure personalized and relevant communications. Tailor engagement efforts based on donor type, including first-time donors, recurring donors, and lapsed donors.

  • Event Support: Coordinate with the team to organize donor appreciation events, project tours, and special campaigns such as Giving Tuesday. Play a vital role in making sure donors feel valued and appreciated.

  • Win-Back Campaigns: Help re-engage lapsed donors by developing targeted messaging and outreach efforts to bring them back into active giving.

Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for relationship-building
  • Experience in customer service, marketing, or fundraising (preferred but not required)
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Experience with donor management systems like DonorBox or CRM tools (a plus)

Commitment: 5-10 hours per week (flexible), with a mix of remote and in-person opportunities. You will receive training on NeighborScapes’ donor management practices and have the chance to make a significant impact on our fundraising success.

Join our mission to build a stronger, more vibrant community by helping us nurture the relationships that keep NeighborScapes growing!

About NEIGHBORSCAPES NFP

Location:

815 W 63rd Street, Chicago, IL 60621, US

Mission Statement

NeighborScapes’ mission is to invigorate the physical and social fabric of neighborhoods through meaningful service, fostering community development, and creating empowering opportunities.

Description

Neighborscapes began as the successor to a program called Urban Solutions, that was co-founded by Jay Readey (Our founder and board president) and David Lewicki (a director of our board). Urban Solutions was a program that created jobs for youth, working as independent landscape and neighborhood housing contractors, eventually being bolstered by the AmeriCorps National Service program, and a contract to clean vacant lots. In its early days, Neighborscapes was doing much of the same work. Through the landscaping program and snow removal initiatives, youth could clean up their communities while also gaining valuable skills, experiences, and support.

In 2015, we recruited our first Community Building Fellows (CBFs), one of which was our current Executive Director, Omari Moore - who had also been a New Sector Alliance AmeriCorps member working during 2014-15 on the development of Innovation Houses. Our first House (5719 S Ada) was owned by Damon D. Perry, a NeighborScapes Board member who helped us actualize this program before we were able to purchase the house ourselves in 2019. Over the years, Omari’s leadership has allowed us to expand our programming and reach. We now have 5 innovations houses (2 more in the construction phase) across Englewood and now Harvey. Alongside our Innovation House program, we have successfully ran an arm of the SHIFT workforce development program and have recently added an AmeriCorps service program that is based in Harvey.
