About Us
Started in 2021, Thriving Youth Farmers Uganda (TYoFU) supports food security, youth empowerment, and the local economy of Masulita Town Council, Uganda and beyond. On rich farmland, TYoFU employs Ugandan youth to cultivate healthy food for their community, with a dream of becoming a multi-discipline vocational training and mentorship center for youth from all regions of Uganda.
TYoFU's vision: a world in which all youth can become employed, empowered, community leaders and all people have regular access to healthy, whole food. TYoFU is a social enterprise AND an officially accredited NGO. This video tells the story of Thriving Youth Farmers Uganda's vision and inspiring efforts to date.
TYoFU’s vision is large and what we need most are partnerships and sustainable funding. We are seeking an experienced volunteer to give us guidance and mentorship as we find the right grantors/grants to bolster our efforts. We are looking for someone with some experience in this area, and a desire to create systems and support us in our learning.
Qualifications:
Reliable access to a computer and internet
Experience with grant research, writing, and stewardship
Available an average of 6 hrs per week, over at least two days a week
including approximately 2 hrs total of weekly meeting time with Grant Writing Volunteers and/or other TYoFU members each week
Responsibilities:
Research grants that TYoFU may be eligible for, are in line with TYoFU’s mission and vision, and are within reach. Ask Director and other staff to approve grant opportunities found, and work with them to prioritize grant proposals.
Create a grants calendar, as well as a system for tracking the progress of grant proposals and responses.
Meet with Grant Writing Volunteers to prepare a focus and direction for a given grant proposal’s aims. We have one Grant Writing Volunteer at present, but hope to have up to three.
Give guidance around developing and streamlining monitoring and evaluation plans that are reasonable and relevant.
As needed, work with Director or Finance Manager to offer guidance around budgets for given grant proposals.
Offer revisions to proposal narratives and budgets.
