This role offers a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to contribute their communication skills to an impactful nonprofit. You’ll gain experience in content creation, digital marketing, and nonprofit communications, while helping to raise awareness for a cause that empowers youth through sustainable farming. Volunteer role Remote/from home position requires consistent access to a computer and strong internet Averaging 5 hrs per week, spread across the week. Includes 2 hrs of meeting time each week (Schedule is flexible, as long as meeting time aligns with others’ availability) Minimum commitment desired: 1 year (with breaks of course!) About Us Started in 2021, Thriving Youth Farmers Uganda (TYoFU) supports food security, youth empowerment, and the local economy of Masulita Town Council, Uganda and beyond. On rich farmland, TYoFU employs Ugandan youth to cultivate healthy food for their community, with a dream of becoming a multi-discipline vocational training and mentorship center for youth from all regions of Uganda. TYoFU's vision: a world in which all youth can become employed, empowered, community leaders and all people have regular access to healthy, whole food. Qualifications Reliable access to a computer and internet Experience with Canva Strong written communication skills Ability to follow a content calendar and meet deadlines Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation Responsibilities Social Media Management: Increase TYoFU’s visibility by posting regularly on social media platforms based on a pre-developed content calendar. Collaborate with the Volunteer Manager to maintain a consistent posting schedule. Website Content Updates: Post updates to TYoFU’s website every other month, ensuring consistency with social media content. eNewsletter Creation: (Optional) Write a brief monthly eNewsletter, following a thematic calendar developed with the Volunteer Manager, to keep supporters informed of TYoFU’s activities and achievements. Content Sourcing & Development: Work closely with the Volunteer Manager to request thematic stories, photos, and updates from TYoFU staff, volunteers, and youth, ensuring engaging and impactful content for posts and updates. Collaboration on Fundraising Campaigns: Partner with the Fundraising Volunteer three times a year to design Canva materials for fundraising campaigns to be shared across social media, the website, and eNewsletters. Write a copy for GlobalGiving reports to update donors on progress and impact. Annual Impact Reporting: Write and design TYoFU’s Annual Impact Reports to highlight achievements and share key metrics with donors and partners. Presentations & Partner Engagement: As needed, assist with developing presentations for information meetings and partner outreach. (Optional) Help write narrative scripts for films that showcase TYoFU’s work and impact. Research & Networking: If time permits, research organizations and networks that could amplify TYoFU’s message. Assist in inviting new partners to follow TYoFU’s social media, join groups, and share content with their networks. The Volunteer Manager will support this initiative.

We are seeking a volunteer to take over and expand our fundraising efforts and to strengthen our relationships with our donors. Qualifications Reliable access to a computer and internet Experience raising funds for either a personal cause or a nonprofit/NGO is preferred Strong writing and verbal communication skills in English Availability of approximately 8 hours per week Including 2 hours of regular meeting time with Communications Volunteer and other TYoFU members Responsibilities: Campaign Development Develop seasonal fundraising goals and strategies with TYoFU staff, working closely with Communications Volunteer to execute messaging, personal invitations, and more Manage TYoFU’s presence on GlobalGiving platform Engage with GlobalGiving learning opportunities as relevant Write quarterly reports for GlobalGiving donors Assist TYoFU to renew GlobalGiving membership in 2025 Work to build out TYoFU’s donor pool Outreach to possible supporters via email, messaging, and informational meetings Devise fundraising challenges Research new donation platforms Donor Gratitude - help our donors know the impact of their support! Develop donor gratitude practices, such as videos, online gatherings, and tokens of appreciation, with particular appreciation for monthly and large donors Track Donations Track donations made in master doc Report # of donors, donations, and donated amounts to TYoFU in a brief annual report Work with Finance Manager and Director to ascertain service statistics
