ORGANIZATION: USDA Forest Service

The Santa Catalina Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest is seeking Volunteer Visitor Services Information Assistants. On the Santa Catalina Ranger District there are two visitor centers: Sabino Canyon and Palisades visitor center. Sabino Canyon visitor center is open from 8 am-5 pm daily. Palisades visitor center hours vary on the time of year, from March to December the hours are 9 am-3:30 pm daily and the winter hours are 10 am-4 pm Friday through Sunday.


The volunteer’s primary duties are to assist with visitor center operations including providing information to visitors and answering questions, recommending trails and other recreational opportunities, maintaining the cleanliness of the visitor center, restocking information handouts and fee envelopes, and cataloging lost and found items.

Volunteers must have warm, welcoming customer service and be able to work in a team environment. A volunteer uniform will be provided to the volunteer and must be worn while stationed behind the front desk. Volunteers will also receive on the job training. While working at the visitor center volunteers will have assigned hours and be available to work weekends and holidays as needed.


Trailer pads may be available at both visitor centers to volunteers who volunteer for a minimum of 24 hours per week. No pets allowed in the Sabino Canyon Recreation area. This extends to volunteer camp spots in Sabino Canyon.
