About IRAISE
I'RAISE Girls & Boys International Corporation is a heartfelt haven founded in 2012 by the visionary Chief Executive Officer, Shanequa Moore. As a beacon of hope and resilience, we stand tall as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, proudly led by individuals from BIPOC and women communities. Role:
Inspire Imagination: Dream up and deliver captivating writing prompts and lesson plans that spark students' creativity across genres like poetry, short stories, and creative non-fiction.
Lead with Flair: Lead or co-lead exciting writing sessions where students dive into creative exercises, storytelling games, and group collaborations that let their unique voices shine.
Encourage Exploration: Motivate students to play with language, themes, and styles, fostering a fun and exploratory approach to writing.
Create a Creative Haven: Build a vibrant and inclusive space where students feel free to share their work, express their ideas, and cheer each other on in their creative journeys.
Celebrate Writing: Organize engaging writing workshops, peer review sessions, and collaborative storytelling activities that honor the diversity and brilliance in each student's work.
Showcase Talent: Help students prepare their masterpieces for publication in a class anthology, blog, or showcase event, turning their creative efforts into celebrated achievements.
Keep Track: Maintain fun and organized records of student progress, including completed works and participation in all the imaginative activities.
Be Involved: Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and creative events that support and elevate the writing program.
Qualifications:
Creative Background: Experience or coursework in creative writing, literature, or a related field that fuels your passion for storytelling.
Pursuing Passion: Working towards a degree in Creative Writing, English, Literature, Education, or a related discipline.
Storytelling Enthusiast: A genuine love for storytelling and a desire to help students discover and nurture their creative potential.
Imaginative Mindset: Ability to design engaging and thought-provoking writing activities that captivate and challenge students.
Supportive Nature: Patience and empathy, creating a nurturing environment where students feel safe to take creative risks and explore their writing.
Skills:
Creative Writing Mastery: Strong skills in storytelling, poetry, and other creative writing forms that inspire and guide students.
Innovative Lesson Design: Creativity in crafting activities that spark imagination and encourage students to experiment with their writing.
Effective Communication: Excellent skills to guide students in developing their unique writing styles and voices, and to facilitate dynamic discussions.
Inclusive Atmosphere: Ability to foster a classroom environment that celebrates diverse ideas and encourages free expression.
Organizational Talent: Manage writing sessions, group projects, and the creation of student writing showcases with flair and efficiency.

Initially focused on mentoring, the organization recognized the critical need for mental health support in public schools and strategically pivoted to address this gap. About I’RAISE: I'RAISE Girls & Boys International Corporation, founded in the heart of the North Bronx in 2012, began as a mentoring program for at-risk female youth living in New York City Authority Housing. Under the visionary leadership of CEO Shanequa Moore, the organization quickly expanded its reach and impact. Shanequa, a Bronx native who overcame poverty and significant life challenges, was inspired to give back to her community, creating a resilient organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable children and youth.
