I'RAISE Girls & Boys International Corporation is a heartfelt haven founded in 2012 by the visionary Chief Executive Officer, Shanequa Moore. As a beacon of hope and resilience, we stand tall as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, proudly led by individuals from BIPOC and women communities. Since our inception, we have woven a tapestry of support, dedication, and transformation that defines who we are.

Role:

  • Code Creators: Design and implement fun, hands-on lesson plans that introduce students to the exciting world of coding! Dive into programming languages, algorithms, and software development with energy and enthusiasm.

  • Interactive Sessions: Lead engaging coding sessions where students get to play with coding platforms and tools like Scratch, Python, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS. Turn every class into a tech adventure!

  • Problem-Solving Wizards: Teach students the magic of problem-solving, debugging, and building user-friendly applications. Help them become coding superheroes with practical strategies and cool tricks.

  • Creative Coding Space: Create a positive, inclusive environment where students feel free to experiment with code, share their projects, and collaborate on fun group activities.

  • Project Showcases: Monitor and assess student progress, giving constructive feedback to refine their coding skills and project development. Guide them through individual and group coding projects, leading up to a spectacular final showcase or presentation.

  • Stay Connected: Keep parents or guardians updated with regular communications about student progress, class activities, and any essential tools or resources.

  • Collaborative Coding: Work with other teachers and staff to integrate coding projects into broader educational experiences, adding a digital spark to their learning journey.

  • Organizational Skills: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assignments, and assessments, ensuring smooth sailing through the coding curriculum.

Qualifications:

  • Coding Experience: Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java, with hands-on experience in coding projects. Your coding skills are the key to unlocking student creativity!

  • Kid-Friendly: Experience working with children or in an educational setting is a plus, bringing an extra layer of fun to the classroom.

  • Techie Credentials: Certification or coursework in computer science, software development, or a related field is preferred. Your technical know-how will inspire the next generation of coders!

  • Teaching Passion: A passion for teaching and a desire to spark curiosity in students about coding and programming.

  • Creative Flair: Ability to design interactive and engaging coding activities that make learning to code an exciting adventure.

  • Supportive Mentor: Patience and empathy to create a stimulating and supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore and innovate.

Skills:

  • Classroom Tech Wizardry: Strong skills in managing a structured and focused coding environment where students can thrive.

  • Communication Genius: Excellent communication skills to teach coding concepts clearly and guide students through programming tasks with enthusiasm.

  • Creative Lesson Planning: Ability to design interactive projects and activities that ignite curiosity and enhance learning in a fun, engaging way.

  • Organizational Skills: Efficiently manage lesson planning, student projects, and the use of coding tools and platforms with style and precision.

About I’RAISE: I'RAISE Girls & Boys International Corporation, founded in the heart of the North Bronx in 2012, began as a mentoring program for at-risk female youth living in New York City Authority Housing. Under the visionary leadership of CEO Shanequa Moore, the organization quickly expanded its reach and impact. Shanequa, a Bronx native who overcame poverty and significant life challenges, was inspired to give back to her community, creating a resilient organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable children and youth.
