I'RAISE Girls & Boys International Corporation is a heartfelt haven founded in 2012 by the visionary Chief Executive Officer, Shanequa Moore. Role:

  • Language Explorer: Lead fun and dynamic lessons where students embark on a language-learning adventure, discovering English vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and conversation skills! Help them feel confident in using English in everyday situations.

  • Creative Communicator: Design interactive activities and games that engage students in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English. Use songs, role-play, and group discussions to make learning feel like an exciting journey.

  • Cultural Connector: Teach students not only about the English language but also about the culture, idioms, and nuances that come with it. Help them understand how English is used in different settings-from the classroom to the coffee shop!

  • Confidence Builder: Create a safe and welcoming classroom where students feel comfortable practicing their English skills. Encourage them to express themselves, ask questions, and try new things without fear of making mistakes.

  • Progress Tracker: Monitor and assess each student’s progress, offering feedback that celebrates their achievements and helps them work through challenges. Help them set personal goals and track their language-learning progress.

  • Goal-Oriented Guide: Help students develop language skills that they can use right away-whether it’s ordering food, chatting with a friend, or navigating a new job. Guide them as they work toward becoming fluent in English.

  • Parent Partner: Keep parents or guardians updated on their child’s progress, class activities, and ways to support language development at home. Offer tips on how they can help reinforce learning outside the classroom.

  • Team Player: Collaborate with other teachers to integrate ESL lessons into broader educational experiences. Help students develop not just language skills, but critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Organized Leader: Keep track of student attendance, assignments, and assessments with a smile! Stay on top of lesson plans and resources to ensure students always have what they need to succeed.

Qualifications:

  • Language Enthusiast: Experience in teaching English as a second language or a strong understanding of language acquisition principles. Your passion for helping students communicate will shine through in every lesson.

  • Certified Teacher (Bonus!): TESOL, TEFL, or other ESL certifications or coursework are a plus. These certifications will help you bring your expertise to the classroom, but your creativity and patience are what will truly make learning fun!

  • Cultural Sensitivity: Experience working with students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. You’ll make each student feel seen, heard, and understood.

  • Positive and Fun Mentor: A passion for teaching, a love for language, and an ability to connect with students of all ages. Your enthusiasm will help them feel excited about learning!

  • Creative Spirit: Ability to design engaging activities that appeal to different learning styles, from visual to kinesthetic. Make every lesson something students look forward to!

  • Patient and Empathetic: A calm and supportive attitude that helps students feel comfortable in a new learning environment. Encourage them to take risks and celebrate their growth every step of the way.

Skills:

  • Classroom Magic: Strong classroom management skills to keep things fun, structured, and focused. Create an environment where students are excited to participate and practice English.

  • Clear and Effective Communicator: Ability to explain language concepts clearly and in a way that students will understand. Break down complex ideas into simple steps, using visuals, gestures, and interactive activities.

  • Engaging Lesson Planner: Design exciting lessons that keep students actively involved, using everything from games to storytelling to make learning English fun and meaningful.

  • Organized Planner: Ability to manage lesson plans, track student progress, and stay on top of administrative tasks with ease-ensuring that everything runs smoothly for both you and your students.

  • Flexible and Adaptable Teacher: Ability to adjust your teaching methods based on the needs and levels of your students. No two students are the same, and you’ll know just how to meet them where they are in their language journey!

About I’RAISE: I'RAISE Girls & Boys International Corporation, founded in the heart of the North Bronx in 2012, began as a mentoring program for at-risk female youth living in New York City Authority Housing. Under the visionary leadership of CEO Shanequa Moore, the organization quickly expanded its reach and impact. Shanequa, a Bronx native who overcame poverty and significant life challenges, was inspired to give back to her community, creating a resilient organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable children and youth.
