This role provides experience in nonprofit fundraising, digital marketing, corporate sponsorship, and campaign management. Our three levels of involvement allow volunteers to choose a role based on their availability and expertise.

Roles and Responsibilities:Lead Volunteer (10-15 hours/week)

This role is ideal for individuals with prior experience in fundraising or nonprofit management who are ready to lead fundraising efforts and contribute at a strategic level.

  • Campaign Leadership: Develop, implement, and oversee Giving Tuesday and year-end fundraising campaigns. You will manage every aspect, from concept creation to execution and analysis, ensuring that all targets are met.
  • Corporate Sponsorship: Research potential sponsors, craft professional proposals, and lead corporate outreach. You’ll develop long-term relationships with companies that align with our mission and can provide sponsorships or matching gifts.
  • Grant Writing: Collaborate with the grant writing team to identify grant opportunities, draft compelling proposals, and ensure successful applications.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a small team of Support and Action volunteers, delegating tasks, and providing guidance. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that all volunteers work together to meet fundraising goals.
  • Strategic Donor Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to communicate with and retain donors, ensuring long-term donor relationships.

Proven Skills to Demonstrate:

  • Leadership in managing teams or projects
  • Success in leading fundraising initiatives
  • Corporate outreach and proposal writing experience
  • Strong communication skills in donor and sponsor relations
  • Ability to analyze and adjust campaign strategies in real time
Support Volunteer (5-10 hours/week)

Perfect for those with some fundraising or nonprofit experience, or those eager to gain new skills in campaign support and donor relations.

  • Assist in Campaign Execution: Support the Lead Volunteer in organizing and executing Giving Tuesday and year-end giving campaigns, with tasks such as drafting communications, emails, and promotional materials.
  • Corporate Outreach Support: Assist with researching corporate partners, creating databases, and drafting outreach materials for sponsorship requests.
  • Peer-to-Peer Fundraising: Help set up and support peer-to-peer fundraising efforts, ensuring that participants have the resources and tools they need.
  • Donor Engagement: Assist with sending thank-you letters, creating donor reports, and maintaining personalized communication with donors.
  • Data Management: Ensure accurate tracking of contributions and donor information in our database.

Proven Skills to Demonstrate:

  • Strong writing and communication skills in crafting outreach materials
  • Research skills in corporate or grant funding
  • Organizational abilities to manage databases and track fundraising performance
  • Experience with or willingness to learn digital fundraising platforms
Action Volunteer (2-5 hours/week)

A great entry-level role for those eager to contribute through direct action, such as promoting campaigns or assisting with donor engagement.

  • Peer-to-Peer Fundraising Participation: Create your own fundraising page using our peer-to-peer platform and encourage your network to contribute.
  • Social Media Engagement: Actively promote our Giving Tuesday and year-end campaigns on social media, sharing posts and engaging with followers.
  • Corporate Support: Help gather corporate sponsorship leads and assist with sending outreach emails.
  • Campaign Support: Help promote virtual fundraising events and provide support during campaign initiatives, such as creating promotional materials or assisting with logistics.

Proven Skills to Demonstrate:

  • Social media savvy and experience in promoting causes online
  • Ability to engage and build relationships through personal outreach
  • Creativity in developing campaign materials and ideas
  • Willingness to participate in fundraising events and support tasks as needed
Skills and Experience:
  • Lead Volunteer:

    • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Business, or Communications preferred.
    • Proven leadership experience in fundraising, grant writing, or donor relations.
    • Experience with project management, corporate sponsorship, or campaign strategy.
  • Support Volunteer:

    • Bachelor’s degree (or working towards) in Marketing, Communications, Public Health, or Business is a plus.
    • Experience or interest in digital marketing, campaign support, or research.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Action Volunteer:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Passion for supporting nonprofit causes through personal outreach and social media.
    • Willingness to learn and participate in fundraising activities.
