The Medica Zone is seeking a talented individual to direct our Department of Outreach.
The Outreach Director will be responsible for overseeing and directing all outreach and engagement activities of the organization. This position plays a pivotal role in building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, communities, and target audiences. The Director leads a team, develops outreach strategies, and ensures effective communication with the public, while advancing the organization's mission and goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive outreach strategy that aligns with the organization's mission and priorities. Provide visionary leadership to the Outreach Coordination Department.
Team Management: Supervise and manage a team of interns and coordinators. Set clear objectives, delegate responsibilities, and foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
Community Engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships with the community, stakeholders, and target audiences. Act as a liaison between the organization and external groups to address concerns, gather feedback, and promote collaboration.
Event Planning and Execution: Oversee the planning and execution of outreach events, ensuring they are well-organized and align with outreach goals. Monitor the success of these events in achieving desired outcomes.
Media and Communication: Manage the organization's communication channels, including social media, websites, newsletters, and press releases. Ensure that messaging is consistent, timely, and effective in reaching the intended audience.
Partnerships and Collaborations: Identify and establish partnerships with other organizations, agencies, or community groups to enhance outreach efforts and leverage resources.
Public Relations: Maintain and enhance the organization's public image and reputation. Handle media inquiries, address concerns, and manage crisis communication when required.
Education and Information Dissemination: Develop and distribute educational materials, brochures, reports, and online resources to inform the public about the organization's mission, objectives, services, and accomplishments.
Data Analysis: Oversee data collection and analysis related to outreach efforts. Use data-driven insights to evaluate the effectiveness of outreach strategies and refine future approaches.
Advocacy: Lead advocacy efforts when necessary, influencing public opinion, policies, regulations, or legislation in alignment with the organization's mission and objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., communications, public relations, community engagement).
- Experience in outreach, public relations, or a related role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Data analysis and project management skills.
- Understanding of the organization's mission and goals.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
- Experience in crisis communication is a plus.
- Minimum time commitment of at least 5 hours a week.
