Position Summary: We are seeking a talented and passionate Remote Human Services (HR) Intern to join our team. The HR Intern will support the Vice President and Executive Director in overseeing departmental operations, managing student recruitment, training, and overseeing the organization chart using advanced software suites. This position provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in HR operations within a mission-driven, public health-focused organization.

Students can expect to lern and manage the entire HR pipeline-from recruitment and selection to onboarding and employee departure. This includes conducting recruitment webinars, managing applicant tracking systems, and overseeing review phases such as performance evaluations and references for employment opportunities.

Candidates must possess a genuine passion for service and a strong commitment to supporting students. Patience and kindness are essential qualities for success in this role.

HR Students will have opportunities to conduct recruitment for high profile and celebrity partners, including our Director of Media Dumisani Maraire, an esteemed celebrity Event Photographer and Videographer based in the vibrant heart of Hollywood, California. Through his collaborations with Love Heals the World and Red Carpet Series, a premier event photography and videography company in Los Angeles, he specializes in capturing red carpet interviews and providing event photography stills. Dumisani has had the privilege of working with some of the brightest stars, including Snoop Dogg, Akon, Paris Hilton, Tiffany Haddish, and Jimmy Kimmel, among many others. Step into his lens and explore the dynamic world of celebrity photography.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Departmental Operations: Assist with planning, organizing, and directing the work of staff involved in delivering health services via policy proposals, live discussions, podcast schedules, SEO blogs, landing pages, newsletters, and social media.
  • HR Processes: Provide input to improve HR processes and the student internship program; operationalize HR programs such as Recruitment, Performance Management, Compensation, Learning and Development, and Employee Health and Well-being.
  • Work Environment: Facilitate a supportive work environment and foster an engaged workforce aligned with the organization's mission, core values, and culture.
  • Internal Communications: Manage internal communications, ensuring accurate information dissemination and handling paperwork needs with the Executive Director of Practicums.
  • HR Metrics: Partner with leadership to analyze workforce trends, identify key HR metrics (e.g., vacancy and turnover rates, demographics), and prepare detailed reports.
  • Operational Support: Advise departmental leaders on operational decisions, develop HR strategies, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Create job posts, conduct recruitment webinars, vet applicants, verify references, and manage applicants through the hiring process. Oversee onboarding, extend job offers, and ensure all necessary documentation is signed.
  • System & Data Management: Configure necessary systems for new hires, manage tasks through Google Drive, Google Sheets, Monday, and Slack, and export data into Hubspot to trigger automation workflows.
  • HR Transactions: Initiate, review, and approve HR transactions; monitor team attendance and performance metrics.
  • Student Engagement: Engage with students via communication channels, conduct weekly check-ins, and support them through their internship journey.
  • Collaboration & Reporting: Collaborate with the Executive Director of Practicums and Directors of Data and Media to assess intern performance, manage reward points, and track participation through project management tools.
  • Protocol & Compliance: Administer departmental protocols, ensuring compliance with HR policies and legal standards; recommend policy changes as necessary.
  • Performance Reviews & Recognition: Spearhead New Hire Orientations, manage performance reviews, reward achievements, and ensure reference letters and LinkedIn reviews are provided.

  • Motivated to gain proficiency in software suites such as Slack, Hubspot, Monday, G-Suite, and Clockify.

Our world is becoming increasingly dependent on the use of technology. The Assuaged Foundation has a responsibility to help our students become familiar with and comfortable using technology in their everyday lives. In addition to this, students enjoy technology; it is fun and exciting. Using a technology-focused approach to raise awareness around public health matters via social media, SEO content curation, and public speaking through active live discussions will help get even the most reticent student interested and excited about enhancing their skillsets through the use technology. If a student is actively engaged in the learning process, greater social awareness and academic gains are seen. It has been found that in using remote technologies students have shown significant growth in social media, public speaking, and writing proficiency.
