About Maya's Hope:
Maya's Hope is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children in need, particularly those in underdeveloped countries. We focus on providing life-saving surgeries, medical care, education, and loving support to children facing extreme hardships. Our annual Maya's Hope Lotus Ball is a critical fundraising event to support our mission.

We are seeking a Volunteer PR Specialist to join our team and help promote the upcoming Maya's Hope Lotus Ball. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about making a difference while gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit PR.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a PR strategy to raise awareness and attendance for the Maya's Hope Lotus Ball.
  • Craft press releases, media alerts, and compelling stories that align with the organization's mission.
  • Pitch event details to media outlets (local, national, and international) and secure press coverage.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, influencers, and media professionals.
  • Assist in creating engaging social media content and promoting the event across various platforms.
  • Coordinate interviews and appearances for Maya's Hope representatives leading up to the event.
  • Monitor and report on media coverage, tracking PR results to measure success.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and event team to align messaging and ensure cohesive promotion efforts.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in public relations, communications, or media outreach.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for building relationships.
  • Passionate about nonprofit work and helping children in need.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) and digital marketing is a plus.
  • Ability to dedicate 5-10 hours a week leading up to the event.
