ORGANIZATION: SHARE MY MEALS

Our volunteers recover healthy meals from commercial donor cafeterias and deliver them to specified nearby non-profit organizations. Every meal saved nourishes our community in need whilst also reducing the landfill waste and so helping the environment.

The volunteer role would involve:

  • picking up meals from our donor cafeteria, and
  • delivering these meals to our non-profit community partner/s in nearby area.

Each volunteer task will take approximately one hour including travel time between donor and recipient. Pick up and deliveries will be on a specified week day (not at weekends) in the early afternoon. Volunteers will need to drive their own car. We welcome regular participation but will work with your schedule.

We are looking for volunteers in the Somerset and Middlesex counties.

About SHARE MY MEALS

Location:

Mission Statement

Our mission is to fight both food insecurity and the environmental impact of food waste by recovering and delivering healthy meals to local communities.

Description

Share My Meals is a NJ-based nonprofit organization that fights both food insecurity and the environmental impact of food waste by recovering and delivering healthy meals to the local community. Working with its local partners, Share My Meals addresses both of these critical issues at once with a unique, tech-enabled model that recovers healthful, prepared meals, and delivers them to families in need. We collect balanced meals made from surplus prepared foods from commercial food service providers and distribute them directly to the homes of families and non-profit organizations, leveraging volunteers and technical solutions to create a seamless, sustainable model.
